Location: Birmingham, AL (on-site location) or can site remotely from another part of the state. Travel: Eastern, Northern and Southern part of the state. This may include overnight travel. (80% ) Expenses: Mileage starts at the job site not from home office, not unless the job site is 50 miles from the home office. Cell phone is allowed and should include wifi capability. Internet is also covered. Standard rates per policy. Hours that will be worked are 7:00 am - 4:00 pm CST, with a 1 hour meal break. (1) Must have Fiber Construction Experience - not tower. (2) Be able to conduct independent daily site inspections to monitor and document construction progress, including accurate and organized daily reports, photos, and quality control/safety standards and regulations. (3) Must understand fiber installation (underground and aerial), including splicing and testing specifications, and ability to read and understand blueprints/construction drawings.? Fiber Construction Manager, Fiber Splicer, Fiber Engineer, Outside Plant Construction Operations Basic understanding of web application infrastructure and front-end/ database technologies. Fluent with standard Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, Visio, etc). Google Earth, Adobe Acrobat, Computer Skills, etc. Field measuring and audit verification techniques, photo inspection capabilities.? ?The Field Construction Inspector position monitors the work of contractors to ensure quality control and contract compliance for projects of routine to moderate complexity. Essential Job Functions Oversees, inspects, and monitors contractual field work which includes excavations, boring, placement on hand hole, aerial strand and fiber cable installation, and restoration of work areas. Schedules work and inspection phases with contractors superintendent and agency personnel. Advises contractors of violations and recommends adjustments to operations. Takes field measurements of to verify contractor billing; checks placement of and performs quality reviews of construction. Recommends changes to construction plans to meet field conditions or provide project cost savings. Maintains project records which include daily diaries, materials notebooks, as-built plans, and pay quantity records. Evaluates and monitors progress schedules, prepares work orders, and monthly estimates. Warehouse inventory responsibilities, including: inventory management, vendor outfitting, and cable inventory management; Documenting fiber inventory and incident reporting in company systems (Microsoft CRM). On-site support as necessary during major outages or sensitive network impacts to provide supervision and oversight of internal and external resources. Strand mapping. Make ready rides with other utilities; Post construction rides with other utilities. Qualifications/Education Requirements Minimum 5 years working with Fiber OSP & ISP High School or associate’s degree required.
