A Storyteller shares the stories of Eataly’s products, helping guests make educated and confident shopping decisions. A Storyteller is a super seller with a passion for promoting high-quality Italian products. Reports to the Events and Storytelling Manager.
- Prepares and executes product tastings and demonstrations
- Takes care of the set-up and break-down of demo stations
- Keeps track of the product used during tastings
- Engages guests on the shop floor and during demos to explain products and Eataly’s Eat.Shop.Learn philosophy
- Listens actively and asks questions to understand guests’ needs and preferences; recommends food and beverage items from our market
- Responds courteously to guest inquiries regarding availability, location, and usage of products
- Collaborates with vendors and the Eataly team during tastings, feste, sagre, and storewide events
- Develops comprehensive knowledge of Eataly’s products, and participates diligently in live and video trainings
- Leads tours for guests, schools, or new team members upon request
- Assists with staff classes and La Scuola classes upon request
- Answers guests’ questions about Eataly’s range of services
- Liaises with the Front End and Grocery Teams to help with their duties
- Circulates the store regularly to ensure shopping carts are always available in designated areas
- Opens and closes cash till and ensures accurate accounting of all transactions, collections, and disbursements during the work shift
- Performs other duties as required or assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills
- Outgoing personality and ability to sell
- Knowledge of and passion for Italian food and beverage
- Experience working in retail and/or restaurants
- Intermediate computer skills
Job Requirements
- Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule often including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending, and squatting
