CNC Machinist (2nd Shift - 4 Day - 10 Hour Shifts)

Walther Manufacturing Inc. is looking for a CNC Machinist in our facility in Fort Smith, AR. This position will be producing machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; and maintaining equipment and supplies. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Proficient in setup and operation of 5-axis lathes, 5-axis mills, and 3-axis lathes and mills. Monitor machine operation and make adjustments as necessary. Adjust CNC programs and offsets through G codes and the machine's control panel to ensure that parts are within the designated tolerances according to prints and/or CAD models. Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings and independently machine parts from print to finish. Great understanding of setting feeds and speeds. Consistently and independently produce and hold tight tolerances when required. Change cutting tools, including measuring and setting machine offsets after a tool change. Great knowledge of standard cutters, custom tooling, fixtures, and holding methods to facilitate manufacturing. Deploy proper work-holding methods and the ability to conceptualize, design, and/or build production tools, fixtures, and jigs. Proficient in using precision measuring instruments for quality control purposes. properly use measurement tools (such as calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, and granite tables) to perform in-work quality control and maintain part consistency and acceptance according to the blueprint requirements. Have a basic understanding of quality management systems and their implementation in a production environment. Debur, blend and prepare parts for subsequent operations. General operation and setup of manual mills and lathes for secondary operations. The ability to set up and use press brakes, shears, and horizontal and vertical saws when required is a plus. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Educational Qualifications: High School diploma or GED. Relevant work experience or vocational school preferred. Minimum Requirements and Previous Experience: 5 years of experience as a CNC Machinist performing per the listed responsibilities above. 10 years working in general job shop or production environments utilizing standard machine shop equipment and tools. Ability to machine parts proficiently and consistently hold tight tolerances. Professionalism, reliability, and consistent attendance during normal business hours. Key Qualifications: Must-Have: 3-5 Axis CNC Milling machine operation and in-controller programming, Manual Machining (Milling and Turning), Manufacturing, Fabrication, and Mechanical Knowledge. Nice to Have: Tool & Die, Quality Control, Sheet Metal, Press Brake Machine, Assembly. Machines: Nakamura Tome MX100, DMG Evo50, Okuma Multis 250BII, DN Vertical, DN Horizontal Lathe, Index G200 Lathe, Other Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude. Ability to read fabrication drawings. Proficiency in basic shop math. Desire and ability to learn new processes quickly. Ability to perform other tasks within the shop as needed.
