Job Description: The Communications Manager for the Provost will be responsible for developing and managing the Provost's Office communications and, by extension, the Academic Affairs coordinated strategic communications plan. The primary responsibilities for the incumbent include drafting remarks for the Provost for events and meetings, developing a social media plan and managing social media for the Provost. The incumbent also will coordinate and draft campus-wide communications, both annual and ad hoc, for the Provost's Office and units within Academic Affairs as requested. In addition, the incumbent will oversee the Provost's Office website, including writing/updating content, with special focus on highlighting current activities from across the Division of Academic Affairs. Project support for various initiatives and projects also is included in the portfolio of this position. Supervision: The position will be located within the Provost's suite and receive daily supervision from the Provost and Chief of Staff, with additional supervision from the Office of Communications and Marketing and additional guidance and mentorship provided by Senior Advisor for Executive Communications. Primary Responsibilities: Communications Develop a coordinated strategic communication plan for Academic Affairs with consistent messaging and talking points Draft remarks for all speaking engagements for the Provost to include the event audience, date, time, and location Develop and manage the social media plan across multiple platforms for the Provost Develop a schedule of campus-wide communications from the Provost's Office (e.g., beginning and end of year welcome from the Provost etc.) and update all communications on an annual basis Draft Academic Affairs-specific and Academic Affairs Campus-wide communications as needed Ensure communications are distributed/sent in a timely manner Draft congratulatory letters and other communications Draft scripts for videos Draft scripts, invitations? etc., for Provost Office Town Halls and other mass meetings Schedule recording facility as required Develop and edit PowerPoint presentations Oversee the development of the electronic/print holiday greeting Draft Provost remarks for Senate meetings Draft responses to inquiries from faculty, staff, student and others as needed Website Management Manage the Provost's Office website including making regular updates and redesigning/using new templates as needed Write content for the Provost's Office website Ensure that Provost's Office Website is current Assist with the maintenance of the Senate website as needed Other Responsibilities Provide Provost with biographical information for meeting participants as requested Provost Annual Report Assemble content Draft Annual Report for the President Draft, develop, design and edit the web and printed version of the Academic Affairs Annual Report Oversee the updating of the Faculty Handbook on an annual basis Attend Provost Council and work with Provost Office Administrative Assistant to post minutes from Provost Council meetings Assist with updating organizational charts as needed Gather and assemble information on various matters as requested by the Provost Serve as staff support for the Showcase event Assist with Provost's Office projects and initiatives Provide support to the Senate leadership for communications, outreach and information management activities as assigned Liaison Responsibilities Work closely with the Office of Communications and Marketing Work closely with the President's Office to coordinate communications Work closely with schools/colleges and support units within Academic Affairs to coordinate communications Serve as the Provost's Office contact for Commencement Activities Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution 4-5 years of professional experience relevant to the responsibilities of this position Demonstrated experience writing remarks and other communications Demonstrated experience using multiple social media platforms Demonstrated experience managing a website including writing web content Professional experience in a fast-paced, high-visibility/senior-level office Experience managing projects Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree from an accredited institution Experience at an Institution of Higher Education Additional Information: Professional Rank and Salary Grade: SL-4, $70,000-$75,000 Special Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
