K2 Insurance Services, LLC seeks a full-time Business Analyst who will play a key role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical execution. Working closely with insurance business leaders and data engineers, the Analyst will be responsible for translating complex business requirements into clear and actionable technical specifications. The focus will be on insurance data, which will be mapped and processed using SQL and Python on the Databricks platform by our Data Engineering team.

Salary Range: $115,000 To $135,000 USD per year

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Requirement Gathering:
  1. Collaborate with insurance business leaders to understand their specific needs and objectives.
  2. Conduct in-depth interviews, workshops, and surveys with the business units to gather detailed requirements.
  3. Analyze and document business processes, data flows, and data quality expectations as needed.
  • Requirement Analysis:
  1. Break down complex business requirements into manageable and measurable components.
  2. Identify data dependencies, data sources, and data transformations.
  3. Prioritize requirements based on business value and technical feasibility.
  • Technical Specification Development:
  1. Translate business requirements into clear and concise technical specifications.
  2. Collaborate with data engineers to ensure that specifications are aligned with technical capabilities.
  3. Create data models, data dictionaries, and other technical documentation.
  • Data Mapping and Transformation:
  1. Work closely with data engineers to define data mapping rules and transformation logic.
  2. Assist in the development of SQL queries and scripts for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) as needed.
  3. Validate data quality and accuracy throughout the data mapping process, performing user acceptance testing.
  • Data Governance and Compliance:
  1. Ensure adherence to data governance standards and regulations.
  2. Help implement data quality controls and data security measures.
  3. Maintain data lineage and documentation.
  • Stakeholder Management:
  1. Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, providing regular updates on project progress.
  2. Manage expectations and resolve conflicts.
  3. Build strong relationships with business leaders, data engineers, and other team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in the insurance industry.
  • Strong understanding of insurance business processes and data.
  • Experience working with data-engineering toolsets like Databricks.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Knowledge of SQL and data modeling techniques.
  • Experience with agile methodologies and project management tools.
