Description

  • Welding Program Development: Lead the creation and implementation of a welding program in accordance with industry standards (e.g., AWS, ASME) and collaborate with quality teams on necessary enhancements for certification.
  • Shop Floor Support: Provide on-site assistance to welders and engineering teams during welding and additive processes.
  • Weld Inspection Program: Collaborate with non-destructive testing teams to develop and maintain an effective weld inspection program.
  • Manufacturing Procedures: Develop, document, and implement manufacturing procedures for welding and additive manufacturing.
  • Customer Engagement: Create and submit work procedures for both new and repaired products for customer approval.
  • Quality Assurance: Review process and welder qualification samples, ensuring adherence to sustainable quality practices in collaboration with materials labs.
  • Specification Interpretation: Analyse and communicate industry and customer specifications and requirements.
  • Training and Education: Educate staff on welding concepts and practices.
  • Problem-Solving: Utilize scientific methods to troubleshoot and resolve welding-related issues.
  • Quality Disposition: Provide technical resolutions for welding quality rejections and oversee corrective actions.
  • R&D Projects: Engage in research and development initiatives for process improvement and product innovation, working with cross-functional teams to explore new markets.
  • Technology Expertise: Stay updated on industry trends and serve as a subject matter expert in welding and additive manufacturing.
  • Failure Analysis: Conduct failure analysis for rejected welds and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Supplier Oversight: Provide qualification and oversight for suppliers as needed.
  • Industry Representation: Represent the organization in relevant industry associations and forums.

Profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Weld Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Materials Science with a focus on welding processes preferred. Equivalent industry experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Weld Engineer or in applicable additive manufacturing research.

Job Offer

  • Base salary $95,000 - $110,000 depending on level of experience
