Position description

Roose Lab - Assistant/Associate/Full Specialist

SCHOOL OF MEDICINE - Anatomy

Description

The Roose lab is seeking an Assistant/Associate/Full Specialist to join our group and contribute to new and ongoing projects. Our lab focuses on cell-cell interactions and cell fate decisions in the context of immunology, cancer biology, and stem cell biology. In many projects we apply the use of organoids, generated in the Roose Organoid Disease-to biology (D2B) unit from patient material or mouse models. We biobank and characterize epithelial cell organoids - often combined with other cell types - with imaging, spectral flow, and single cell technologies.

The candidate will be expected to contribute to generation and characterization of patient- and mouse model- organoids in the Roose lab and Roose Organoid D2B unit, by conducting mouse handling and mouse tissue acquisition, tissue culture and cell biology techniques, including organoid-immune cell co-cultures, imaging-, molecular- , and spectral flow- assays. An exceptional candidate will eventually lead their own independent project, develop new ideas, be familiar with the literature, and participate in procurement of funds, where appropriate. Additionally, the specialist will be expected to assist with managing day-to-day lab operations, and perform general lab duties and be a positive lab citizen.

Required Qualifications:

* Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written)

* Willingness and ability to learn new methods and skills for changing research priorities.

* Ability to work independently and as a member of a research team.

* Must have (or be in process of obtaining) a master's degree (or equivalent degree) or a bachelor's degree with three or more years of research experience to be appointed at the Assistant rank.

* Must have (or be in process of obtaining) a master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of research experience to be appointed at the Associate rank.

* Must have (or be in process of obtaining) a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of research experience to be appointed at the Full rank.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Prior experience with mouse handling

* Prior experience with mouse procedures

* Prior experience with tissue culture, aseptic techniques

* Prior experience in molecular biology (DNA cloning, PCR, etc.)

* Prior experience in computational analysis (data set analyses, statistics)
