We offer medical, dental, and mental health services for all ages.LOCATION: DENTAL-WDCJOB SUMMARY:Under general supervision of the Dental Supervisor RDA-Clinic Coordinator, Dentist, or Chief Dental Officer performs all duties of a Dental Assistant including assistance to the dentist and dental hygienist during a variety of treatment procedures, and other functions as legally allowed in the state of California. Essential Job FunctionsSetting upHelping patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatmentAsking about or verifying when necessary a patient's medical history and taking blood pressure and pulseTaking and developing dental radiographs (x-rays)Chairside assistingProviding patients with instructions for oral care following dental treatment proceduresTeaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health (like tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counselingServing as infection control officer, developing infection control protocol and preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment, and the patient's areaKeeping operatories stocked and sterileMaintaining dental equipmentTaking impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth).May apply non-aerosol and non-caustic topical agentsMay remove post-extraction and periodontal dressingsMay place and remove elastic orthodontic separatorsMay hold anterior matricesMay remove suturesMay apply topical fluoride after scaling and polishing by the Dentist, Hygienist, or Dental Supervisor RDA-Clinic CoordinatorMay place and remove rubber damsOther dental or chairside duties assigned by the supervisor.Under general supervision, an Registered Dental Assistant may perform:Mouth mirror inspecting oral cavity to include charting of obvious lesions, existing restorations, and missing teethPlacement and removal of temporary sedative dressingsUnder direct supervision, an Registered Dental Assistant may perform the following procedures:Obtain endodontic culturesDry canals previously opened by the Supervising Dentist, with absorbent pointsTest pulp vitalityPlace bases and liners on sound dentinRemove excess cement from gingival surfaces of teeth with a hand instrument or fluorideSize stainless steel crowns, temporary crowns and bandsTemporary cementations and removal of orthodontics bandsPlacements of orthodontic separatorsPlacements and litigations of arch wiresPlacement of post-extractions and periodontal dressingsCoronal polishing if certified Removal of excess cements from coronal surfaces of teeth by means of ultrasonic scaler if certifiedObserve professional and ethical standards of the job.Follow clinic protocols.Comply with OSHA regulations.
