Opportunity

Member of the AFO Supply Chain operation organization, this position will be responsible for managing and build a strong organization to establish, lead, support and develop the overall On-site Materials operations, warehouse Supermarket, Kitting process, intra logistics, as well as the inventory control system ensuring the accuracy of the perpetual inventory by researching inventory variances, maintaining the integrity of product storage locations, and monitoring material movement transactions. Publishing daily cycle count results and regular maintenance of Materials Master Data in SAP. for Arkansas Faucets Operations (AFO) in Kohler Co. Activities will include leading the day-to-day Materials operations for on-site warehouse, supermarket, Inventory control and in plant handling.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing efficient on-site handling, receiving, storage, and supermarket.

  • Manage materials associates, monitoring work and ensuring the safe use of PIV equipment.

  • Collaborate closely with the planning and scheduling area to ensure that the materials to cover the production schedule released are properly kitted and ready for assembly.

  • Ensuring the workers have adequate training and knowledge of safety procedures to perform their jobs safely and efficiently.

  • Ensure the proper kitting process and material delivery to assembly on time.

  • Ensure the process runs smoothly on the assembly lines avoiding lack of materials downtime.

  • Conduct root cause analysis for downtime due to lack of material and lead cross-functional teams to develop sustainable solutions to correct it.

  • Establish handling practices, protocols, and team goals to achieve an efficient operation.

  • Responsible for driving leadership: identify needs and gaps, and build competence plans to meet the short- and long-term business needs.

  • Train and supervise employees engaged in material handling and supermarket activities.

  • Optimize material flow related to direct labor headcount through CI and lean activities.

  • Monitor workplace performance and lead training initiatives to improve employees.

  • Coordinate activities with other areas to ensure smooth material flow through the process.

  • Collaborate closely with the team to ensure the Kohler Material management System (KMMS) and Product Flow System (KPFS) implementation and certifications for AFO.

  • Manage and define supermarkets, Kanban’s, smart-buffers, material feeding flow and signal, and other advanced material storage or replenishment solutions.

  • Definition of required logistics equipment (specifications and quantities).

  • Led the team of inventory cycle counts; knowledgeable about inventory items to be counted, the counting procedures used, and all the locations of all inventories in AFO including DC.

  • Prepare the schedule of cycle counts to be performed in all AFO sites. Audit of inventory records accuracy through scheduled and on-demand cycle counts, including review of current cycle count system and development of any changes required to that system.

  • Plan, implement, and manage procedures to optimize inventory control.

  • Design and implement an inventory tracking system for inventory control procedures.

  • Ensuring all inventory counts correctly, including but not limited to annual physical inventory counting, inventory cycle count, or data from perpetual inventory management.

  • Track and control inventory movements on SAP ensuring employees are properly trained.

  • Resolve inventory discrepancies, including research, root cause/missing parts analysis; adjust inventory, print labels, handle damaged inventory, and ensure stock disposition.

  • Report on operational errors impacting inventory performance.

  • Define inventory control KPIs and track them regularly with the PDCA.

  • Senior expert associated with the content, processes and procedures involved with SAP.

  • Report cycle count and other audit findings to Management through monthly reporting.

  • Identify cost/waste reduction opportunities through stock counts and inventory analysis.

  • Reconcile all distribution center and in-plant warehouse inventory on a monthly basis.

  • Generating or adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Industrial Engineering, business or related field preferred or years of experience in lieu of education

  • Minimum of 5 years’ hand-on Supply Chain, Inventory control, Conveyance, warehouse, or internal Logistics Supervisor and continuous improvement experience.

  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods andservices.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of inventory management software (SAP) and material master data.

  • Expertise in SAP for Logistics and Materials Highly Preferred.

  • Flexibility, adaptability, and process improvement approach.

  • Extensive knowledge of MRP/ERP preferable SAP for Logistics and Materials.

  • Ability to lead and manage the supply chain operations teams and design material routes, supermarket, min-max and other materials flow, and Lean solutions.

  • Ability to conduct end user training.

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture, material flow and distribution of goods.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

The salary range for this position is $66,300 - $83,500. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
