Job Summary:
Safari Kid - Irvington is now hiring passionate Montessori trained Toddler teacher to provide a caring & nurturing environment for children of ages 18 months - 2.5 years. A teacher must have a great love and patience for children. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include knowledge of best practices and educational methods as well as the ability to engage them and earn their trust and attention. The goal is to contribute to the healthy social and emotional development of the child.
Responsibilities
- Employ Montessori educational techniques to teach children (training provided if needed)
- Preparing and maintaining the classroom environment to optimize student learning.
- Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
- Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)
- Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
- Track children’s progress and communicate professionally with parents
- Collaborate with other educators
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
- Must be able to change diapers
Skills
- Experience as a Preschool Teacher
- Excellent understanding of the principles of child development
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage lesson plans, materials, and student records.
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of each child.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with young children.
- Ability to create a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and creativity.
Qualifications:
- AMS Montessori training preferred
- 12 core units in Early childhood (minimum 6 units and willing to complete additional 6 units)
- 1+ years of experience as a preschool teacher.
- Certification in child CPR and First Aid
- Current TB test and health report
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
