The Maintenance Repair Technician will ensure reliability of machinery and equipment by completing preventive maintenance on machinery and systems. Perform tasks including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, PLC, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of equipment. Read and interpret equipment manuals, diagrams, sketches, engineering specifications, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Use hand tools and measuring instruments to determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts, assembles, installs, adjusts, and calibrates mechanical and electrical machinery and equipment. Dismantles, repairs, rebuilds, and replaces equipment and parts as needed. Adheres to all plant safety policies. Participates in plant-wide safety, housekeeping, Operational Excellence, and Lean Manufacturing programs. Provides assistance and guidance to junior maintenance colleagues. Performs other duties as assigned. This individual must minimize downtime, prioritize, work independently and perform all other job-related duties in a flexible, pro-active and decisive manner. RESPONSIBILITIES: Disassemble and reassemble all machines, making sure machines are running properly before releasing back to the department. Replace worn parts and ensure the proper fit. Check heights of all related parts to ensure proper alignment by use of micrometers, gauge blocks or other precision instruments. Use hydraulic press and arbor press to remove and replace press-fit components. Troubleshoot and repair low voltage wiring, typically 24VDC. Install low voltage wiring and components. Troubleshoot and repair high voltage wiring, typically 110VAC, 220VAC, 240/480VAC 3-phase. Install high voltage wiring and components. Set-up and operate manual machine shop equipment as required to support machine repair process. Fabricate replacement parts when needed for machine repair from drawings provided. Ability to repair all Metal Forming, Metal Stamping, and Machine Shop equipment or know when to request the help of experts. Documents root cause and a suggested corrective action on each premature wear or failed component. Interact with Engineering and other department supervision to resolve problems and discrepancies. Any identified drawing changes are submitted to Engineering for review and correction if deemed appropriate. Other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor. Promotes continuous improvement by proactively identifying issues and providing solutions with the goal of reducing cost and improving performance. Maintain equipment in excellent condition to reduce negative environmental impacts. Minimize waste and conserve energy through reuse, recycling, and following Environmental Management System practices. RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent. High voltage electrical certification preferred. Minimum two years machine shop experience. Minimum two years industrial electrical experience. Electrician License preferred. Ability to use all types of precision measuring equipment. Mechanical background in machine repair preferred. Ability to lift 50-100 lbs.
