JOB SUMMARY The Intermediate Level Chemical Process Technician will use caustic and acidic cleaners (or similar) to remove surface contaminants from gas turbine engine components. This position will conduct a variety of cleaning processes on the components using chemical and mechanical cleaning procedures in a state-of-the-art complex with modern technology and equipment. Through our extensive in-house training program, the successful applicant will be instructed via a series of computer based and hands-on training, the necessary skills of the position. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Through our extensive in-house training program, the successful applicant will be instructed via a series of computer based and hands-on training, the necessary skills of the position. Follow detailed procedures in the processing of engine components throughout the chemical clean line process, using various methods in the preparation of the part for repair and overhaul. Perform various cleaning operations, such as chemical cleaning, power wash, nitric strip, paint strip and titanium oven bakes. Routinely use overhead cranes and ensure cleansing tank times and parameters are adhered to during the process. Demonstrate, on a consistent basis, the ability to follow detailed procedures. Accurately log all process and results in department job log. Communicate all work-related problems and issues with supervisors or other departments in a timely and efficient manner. Participate in problem-solving with supervisors and other departments when needed. Communicate with engineers, lab technicians and team members regularly in the continuous improvement process. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS One year’s experience in a manufacturing environment or similar. Knowledge of machines, equipment, and workplace safety. Demonstrated ability or experience following directions and reading work instructions. Experience with the safe handling of components, including the use of overhead cranes. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS High school or technical school graduate or equivalent. Careful attention to detail. Capable of handling multiple tasks Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs. Read, write, speak, and understand the English language. WORK ENVIRONMENT This position has pre-employment testing requirements that may require fitness for duty testing and a vision exam. Work in varying positions from time to time. Stand and/or sit for portions of the shift. Move parts (>50 pounds) using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods. Move less heavy parts (<50 pounds) with or without hoists, slings, or carts. Frequently exposed to wet and warm conditions. The noise level in some work areas may be loud. Follow all safety and environmental rules that apply. Use of safety and personal protective equipment is mandatory under some conditions. The following may or may not be required. a. Ear plugs. b. Safety glasses. c. Uniform. d. Face shield. e. Chemical resistant protective jackets. Occasionally use powered and non-powered hand tools.
