Job Summary/Company:
Sparks Group has partnered with a retirement services and life insurance company to find a talented Senior Accountant. As the Senior Accountant you will work independently to prepare financial reports, ensure compliance, and contribute to our monthly closing process. Responsibilities:
Prepare monthly financials (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) and maintain the general ledger.
Reconcile accounts, manage collections, verify payments, and ensure proper account coding.
Bank & tax compliance: Reconciles bank statements, files tax forms, and assists with audits.
Ensure all accounting practices comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Maintains and recommends updates to the accounting software system.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
3-5 years of accounting experience
2 years of experience with statutory reporting
Strong statutory background with comprehensive understanding of life, accident, & health insurance and annuities.
Insurance industry experience is preferred.
