DEA's Water and Environment Business Unit is currently hiring for an Environmental Planner/ SEPA|NEPA Specialist to support major projects in the Puget Sound Region. This position can be located in either our Seattle or Bellevue offices but could also be co-located in a project office in the region, and telecommute as allowable given project specific workload requirements. In addition to the water resources and environmental markets, this position works closely with leaders in transportation, land development, and energy in support of project pursuits. DEA's planning group specializes in environmental and NEPA compliance, comprehensive and master planning, land use and development permitting, permitting strategies, plan and code amendments, urban design, multimodal transportation, housing, and grant writing. DEA works throughout Washington and the Pacific Northwest on interesting and challenging projects with clients ranging from local municipalities, counties, and ports, to state and federal transportation and environmental agencies. The Land Use/Environmental Planner position will participate in the wide variety of planning and environmental projects that DEA works on, with a particular focus on preparing land use permit applications, land use permitting strategy and technical documents, comprehensive and master planning, and NEPA environmental compliance documentation. The person in this position will work with senior-level Planners and Project Managers within DEA's Water and Environment, Transportation, Energy, and Land Development business units. Responsibilities: Lead and manage project work that involves SEPA, NEPA, EA, EIS, EIR management, environmental planning, and regulatory compliance/permitting services Coordinate and/or assist in the preparation of SEPA and NEPA documents for a variety of local, state, and federal agencies. Lead and/or support marketing efforts throughout the region, including business development, client outreach, preparing proposals, and participating in project interviews and presentations. Write various sections of environmental documents and review and edit other sections prepared by technical specialists. Provide advice and guidance on complex local, state, and federal regulatory issues for projects. Ensure project quality, scheduling, and budget objectives are clear and met. Take initiative, resolve problems, and identify improved procedures to assure client needs are met effectively Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in environmental planning, environmental science, or a related field. At least eight (8) years of progressively responsible and applicable experience preparing SEPA and NEPA documents. Working knowledge of SEPA, NEPA, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, and other state and federal environmental laws and regulations.
