Vaco is currently assisting our prominent Memphis based manufacturing client in their search for an enthusiastic, team-oriented senior accountant.

This individual is directly responsible for key general accounting responsibilities to support the monthly close process, including preparing accounting journal entries, owning select account reconciliations, and supporting monthly financial reporting to the business leadership team.

An effective senior accountant should possess strong knowledge of accounting concepts combined with demonstrated work experience with corporate financial accounting processes whether in a company or audit firm.

We are looking for a financial accounting leader who has a high attention to detail, is flexible and able to handle changing priorities, is an adept problem solver, is able to work in a team, and possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Play key role in monthly financial accounting close process including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure complete and accurate accounting records.

Lead the accounting/finance aspects of our customer rebate program; this includes interacting with the sales team for setup and maintenance of rebate contracts, reviewing sales contracts for revenue recognition matters, handling all rebate accruals during month-end close and all payment calculations and issuances with the sales team throughout the month, and overseeing quarterly review of rebate contract balances with sales and finance teams.

Manage lease accounting processes in accordance with ASC 842/IFRS 16; this includes coordinating with procurement and finance teams to ensure portfolio of leases is accurate and updated, recording needed additions/updates in lease accounting system, and preparing related journal entries and account reconciliations.

Coordinate with our global finance team for payables transactions and accounting entries related to our global holding companies.

Support the Accounting Manager in preparation of the financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement) and other management reporting schedules.

Implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective processes and controls to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

Perform analytical review of the operations from a balance sheet, income statement and cash flow perspective as well as an overall business perspective.

Support the Accounting Manager with interaction and requests from external auditors during the annual financial statement audit.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field required

CPA preferred

Master’s degree in Accounting/Finance or MBA advantageous

3 to 5 years of experience in corporate accounting or public accounting (audit)

Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards or other major ERP platform experience preferred

Lease Accelerator software and consolidation system (e.g. OneStream, Hyperion) knowledge advantageous

Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (e.g. monthly financial accounting close, financial reporting, annual external financial audits)

Demonstrated experience interacting with external financial auditors

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

High degree of attention to detail and strong ability to multi-task

Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency

Willingness to be in-office 5 days per week
