Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for providing data to support financial analyses and other projects involving research into the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). Financial data may include data from company budgeting, cost and labor systems, general ledger, and other related financial systems.
Exercises judgment within generally defined precedents and policies to interpret established policies, procedures, and standard practices, develop reports, and provide analysis of financial data to ensure that financial analysis projects and cost control activities are successfully implemented and maintained.
Provides information and findings to resolve financial issues impacting operations.
Responds to inquiries, identifies issues, and develops solutions to complex and diverse challenges concerning a variety financial data, some of which contain confidential and sensitive information, which require tact and discretion in handling.
May represent the organization as a primary contact with management, customers, and outside organizations.
Performs financial analyses and studies (finance compliance projects) involving large volumes of data while maintaining an alertness for anomalies.
Conducts reviews to determine propriety of accounting entries associated with projects, accounts, and trial balances in accordance with financial policies, practices, and procedures.
Based on analyses, develops recommendations for corrective action(s) and specifies new reports for production from the company’s SAP ERP system. Influences and guides on actions to be taken.
Interprets and administers policies, processes, and procedures that impact the company.
Participates in the development, implementation and review of policies, procedures and associated documentation.
Responds to financial inquiries on a variety of issues including cost accounting and billing matters.
Collaborates across functions and project teams to deliver solutions to business challenges. Recommends areas for process improvement
May function in an advisory role and provide guidance to less experienced staff.
Works closely with program managers, profit center managers, and cost center managers to provide financial support, data, and reports.
Develops solutions to monitor and provide status for departmental project schedules, timelines, and milestones from initiation to delivery. Assesses potential project issues and assists in developing solutions to meet schedule and quality goals and objectives.
Creates progress reports, and documentation. Make internal and external presentations and may act as a contact with outside organizations.
Organizes, maintains, analyzes, updates, and develops various electronic and hard copy records.
Analyze and respond to regulatory questions from internal and external sources by interpreting Company policy, Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) and Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) guidance, and applicable governmental regulations.
Coordinate cross-functional teams to identify needed process improvements.
Review charging to direct and indirect cost objects, and work closely with accounting on proper company costing practices and internal controls.
Lead reviews of internal controls and related DFARS Business Systems to promote compliance with applicable regulations.
Generate financial analyses using Excel and SAP queries in support of regulatory compliance efforts.
Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications:
Typically requires a bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting and/or finance, and at least six years of professional experience in accounting, finance, or similar fields, preferably at a government contractor. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
Must have a comprehensive understanding of industry and government cost accounting principles, theories and concepts and a complete and thorough knowledge of cost accounting practices, techniques, and standards.
Aerospace/Defense manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
Must have ability to research regulatory compliance matters, including Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Agency supplements, as well as Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
Must possess leadership skills including organizing, scheduling, and coordinating work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates
The ability to initiate, plan, and manage finance projects.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop solutions to a variety of problems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with all levels of employees and external customers.
The ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
Ability to develop formats and summaries to produce accurate, appropriate financial and audit support documentation.
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office suite; SAP knowledge preferred but not required). Requires effective presentation skills.
