Position Overview :
The Director of Events and Community Relations will lead STARability’s event planning and community engagement efforts to advance its mission of transforming the lives of individuals with disabilities. This role focuses on planning and executing impactful fundraising events, fostering meaningful community partnerships, and raising awareness of STARability’s programs and initiatives. The ideal candidate is a creative, detail-oriented, and passionate leader with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities :
Event Planning and Management
Coordinate, manage, and deliver STARability’s signature events, including annual fundraisers, galas, awareness campaigns, and third-party collaborations. Oversee event budgets, ensuring financial goals are met and costs are controlled. Secure event sponsorships and in-kind donations by cultivating relationships with businesses, individuals, and other stakeholders. Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and vendors to ensure successful event logistics, including venue selection, catering, entertainment, and decor. Develop and execute post-event follow-ups, including donor acknowledgment and impact reporting. Community Relations and Outreach
Serve as the primary liaison between STARability and community partners, including local businesses, nonprofits, schools, and government agencies. Develop and implement strategies to strengthen community partnerships and expand STARability’s network of supporters. Represent STARability at community events, forums, and meetings to promote its mission and programs. Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to ensure consistent messaging and branding in community engagement initiatives. Fundraising and Development
Collaborate with the Development team to align event goals with fundraising strategies. Assist in identifying, cultivating, and stewarding major donors and sponsors. Track and analyze event and partnership metrics to evaluate success and inform future strategies. Leadership and Collaboration
Lead and inspire a team of volunteers and staff in event planning and community engagement activities. Work closely with program directors to align events and outreach efforts with organizational goals. Prepare and present regular reports on event outcomes and community relations efforts to the CDO, CEO and Board of Directors. Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in event planning, community relations, or a related role, preferably in a nonprofit setting. Proven track record of successfully planning and executing large-scale events and securing sponsorships. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships. Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in event planning software, CRM platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite. Passion for STARability’s mission and a deep commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities. Preferred Qualifications :
Experience in fundraising and donor cultivation. Familiarity with the local community and its resources. Knowledge of accessibility and inclusion best practices for event planning. Compensation and Benefits :
