Position Summary
The
Sr. Project Manager
plans and manages large, complex transformation projects to achieve on-time, on-budget results where solutions deliver on requirements with optimal end-user involvement and ownership of implemented systems, procedures and solutions. Projects may involve system implementation, strategic planning related to the use of technology, compliance or regulatory changes, process/productivity improvement, introduction of enterprise applications, acquisition integration, major upgrades to existing systems, implementation of new strategic vendor or product, and application design.

Develop project proposals, detailed project plans and schedules in conjunction with the end-user management and IT technical management. Establish and communicate the expectations of project team members to resource managers and project participants.
Establish a clear understanding of project value and strong sense of responsibility for success with all stakeholders.
Develop scope definition and validate with the sponsors and stakeholders. Establish project controls to ensure that each project stays within the agreed upon scope definition. Recognize when scope changes are required to meet project objectives and negotiate those changes with sponsors, stakeholders, and team members.
Mentor other Project Managers.
Establish, in conjunction with other Business Transformation and IT Leadership, all necessary processes, procedures and controls necessary to ensure all project activities lead to on time, on budget project success.
Establish a solid communication plan for each project and manage each aspect of the plan throughout each project cycle. Create and maintain clear, explicit and meaningful status reports. Develop and present concise recommendations and progress reports to sponsors, stakeholders, and senior management.
Conduct a risk assessment for each project, establish a risk management plan for each project and manage to the established contingencies and mitigation strategies throughout each project.
Identify and manage project issues to full resolution.
Establish and manage the process of vendor negotiations related to project goals. Coordinate activities between the vendor organization and the Company. Identify and manage performance issues associated with established vendor agreements and/or contracts.
In conjunction with other members of the Leadership Team, establish budget estimates, to include assumptions, staffing estimates, and capital costs for proposed projects.
Manage expenses to the project budget and provide routine budget reports.
Perform other duties and special projects as required.
Working Conditions/Physical Effort
Normal degree of physical effort in typical office environment with comfortable, constant temperatures and absence of objectionable elements.
Overnight travel may be required.
Remote work may be required.
May be subject to interruptions.
May be required to lift a maximum of 60 lbs.
Must be able to have flexible work schedule when workflow requires.
Meet established attendance and punctuality guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
Educated to degree level in business, computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification highly preferred
Minimum 8 years project leadership experience with proven success in large, complex IT system implementations and other IT-related projects
Related experience in pensions, insurance, benefits, or TPA environment preferred
Technically proficient with a broad understanding of system technology, various platforms, diverse application systems and tools, IT processes & controls and development methodologies
A proven track record of driving multiple, concurrent, complex IT implementation projects and teams
Possess strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Proactive, persistent, flexible. Operates independently and reacts quickly
Experience in gathering and engaging in business process analysis
Acts with empathy and curiosity. Listens and seeks to understand
Success in developing strong, skillful, effective cross-functional IT project teams with an excellent customer service orientation
Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written) with both technical and non-technical colleagues and customers
Competency in the Microsoft Office Suite including: Project, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Sharepoint and PowerBI
Experience with Smartsheet and JIRA preferred
Professional presentation skills
Competency in negotiating with and managing third parties
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and proven business acumen
Business transformation experience, Six Sigma a plus
Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Ability to exercise independent judgment, manage multiple priorities and consistently deliver high-caliber results.
Confidence working with and interfacing with stakeholders across different parts of the business
Ability and willingness to travel as needed
