The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Financial Analyst to work at the UHealth Medical Campus in Miami, FL.
CORE JOB SUMMARYThe University of Miami and the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, & Sleep Medicine (PCCSM), within the Department of Medicine (DOM), is currently recruiting a Senior Financial Analyst to provide support and assistance to the PCCSM Division. The Senior Financial Analyst will examine financial status of the organization by collecting, monitoring, and studying data, and develops projections, reports, and presentations to assist senior managing staff in their financial decision-making process. Moreover, the incumbent establishes and enforces policies and procedures that further department’s financial goals and objectives. This role provides administrative and financial support including, but not limited to the preparation of comprehensive financial analysis that detail available resources, timeframes, and budgets for projects. The individual will be responsible for completing assignments requiring the collection, and organization of data, and may provide analysis on a needed basis the division of PCCSM and Hospital Medicine (HM).
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS1. Develops, prepares and coordinates documentation of financial analysis projects such as budgets, forecasts, projections, expense performance, and presentations.2. Identifies trends and developments in competitive environments and makes recommendations to senior management.3. Will create and maintain MOUs.4. Will maintain costing allocations and submit PAAs for funding changes.5. Provides analytical evaluation for forward-looking financial or business-related projects.6. Devises financial forecasting and reconciliation of accounts.7. Reviews reports and ensures that financial information has been recorded accurately.8. Compares results with plans and forecasts and makes recommendations for adjustments.9. Trains and oversees junior staff members to ensure accuracy and efficiency in end work product.10. Assists in the development and organization of department and project budgets.11. Designs and builds various models that summarize several different scenarios around growth and expansion initiatives or opportunities.12. Develops performance and productivity dashboards, models or analyses.13. Determines profitability and pricing on product offerings and develops performance indicators toenable the analysis of business segments and new product lines.14. Conducts research on different strategic initiatives.15. Acts as liaison to other departments, vendors, and other external parties to complete assignments.16. DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC FUNCTIONSThe Senior Financial Analyst will act as a lead in the development, organization, production, and implementation of clinical, academic, and educational finance portfolios within the division(s). As a finance leader you will support multi-functional initiatives across the division(s). The incumbent will report to the Administrator and Director of the division to ensure financial health of the division(s).
While projects vary, responsibilities might include, but are not limited to the following:• Serving as the primary contact for developing and managing financial portfolios inclusive of Clinical, Administrative, Research, and Teaching (CART) individual profiles for faculty and clinical support staff.• Developing Profit & Loss reports for all faculty and clinical staff for review and analysis with senior leadership• Oversight of the Annual Operating Agreement (AOA) with Jackson Memorial Hospital• Oversight and invoicing of the Department of Health Tuberculosis (DOH-TB) external contract• Oversight and invoicing of the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics Tower (UMHC-T) hospital support• Oversight of any additional incoming financial portfolios such as Gift agreements or other external contracts and agreements• Coordinate Costing Allocations, Payroll Accounting Adjustments, and Labor distribution oversight with senior leadership• Planning and projection of X, Y, Z compensation analysis or future variations of the compensation plan• Oversight of the PCCSM inpatient payroll process and shift differential• Oversight and analysis of billing practices, collections, and denials trends for the division(s)• Evaluates program effectiveness, analyzes results, and recommends appropriate action• Makes suggestions to leadership that will improve overall performance• Proactively identify and resolve conflicts as needed• Assigned relevant tasks as neededCORE QUALIFICATIONSEducation:Bachelor’s degree in relevant fieldExperience:Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:• Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.• Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.• Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
