As the New Company Staff Accountant you will be responsible for all activities related to profit and loss reporting and account reconciliation for operating and balance sheet accounts for multiple hotel locations. This position will provide accounting oversight of month end accounting functions to close multiple hotels. They will be responsible for assuring that the financials are closed timely and accurately. Assure that all taxes are filed timely and accurately. The candidate will need to be able to understand the logistics of operations to identify issues with reconciliations and research data. As an Accountant: • Be a member of the bank reconciliation team. This team is responsible for reconciling the daily bank activity for our of managed hotels. • Prepare cash reconciliations and assist with the recording of journal entries for the assigned accounts to meet individual property financial statement closing deadlines. Investigate transactions in order to detect irregularities. Exhibit an excellent and focused attention to detail with good time management abilities. • Problem solve and learn the nuances of the hospitality industry. Each property has assigned accounting teams and you will be working with fellow accountants (directors, accounting managers, and other personnel) to solve problems and create efficiencies. Good communication and interpersonal skills are a must. • Work directly with your accounting manager on goals to move you forward in your career. Improve personal skillset regarding software proficiency, financial analysis, and data processing. In time be ready to train others. • Possess a 4-year Bachelor Degree in Finance/Accounting and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a finance leadership position or a 5+ year history of progressive career growth in hotel finance (or in a similar industry) • Experience with budgeting forecasting profit and loss reporting and balancing ledgers for operating and balance sheet accounts • Aptitude for performing numerical analysis of data and formulating conclusions and/or solutions • Ability to use logic to define a problem collect information establish facts draw valid conclusions interpret information and deal with abstract variables for unique or unfamiliar situations • Proven leadership and coaching skills with a track record of developing a highly motivated and cross trained group of progressive accounting professionals • Ability to clearly and concisely present technical subjects. • Proficient in Excel • Has a strong knowledge of taxes (setting up/filing).
