Responsibilities The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all areas relating to accounting functions and financial reporting.
This position will be responsible for daily, weekly and monthly accounting tasks and activities.
This position is located in our New York City office on a hybrid schedule.
Requisite tasks include activities such as:
accumulating and preparing data for financial reporting
maintaining general ledger and various other automated systems
reporting of results on various account bases (e.g., GAAP, STAT and UK GAAP basis)
complex problem solving as business expands and changes
The Accounting Manager will be involved in all accounting and reporting functions as well as any financial projects. The incumbent will be integral to the Finance Department and will be responsible for the accurate processing and preparation of the monthly/quarterly financial data.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance
CPA a plus
Experience with foreign currency a plus
A minimum of 7 years Property Casualty insurance accounting experience
Advanced knowledge/skill in a various accounting area, such as general accounting, reinsurance, Statutory and GAAP reporting, GL, AP and reconciliation
Have an understanding of reinsurance contracts and accounting
Ability to "roll the sleeves up" and deliver tasks as needed
Demonstrated ability to be proactive, complete assignments and meet deadlines
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and staff
Ability to effectively work in a fast-pace environment with competing demands on resources, time and priorities
Must have advanced knowledge of Excel
Experience with the following software applications a plus: Hyperion EssBase/SmartView, PeopleSoft GL & AP, Hyperion Reporting, Vena, Perceptive
