The Role

Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing complex computer systems. Determines systems specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility and maintenance of system security. Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves program support deficiencies. Develops and recommends corrective actions. May provide technical guidance for database administrators and software developers.

Newport News Shipbuilding, division of Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII-NNS) is seeking Systems Architect to provide both functional and technical leadership for the planning, architecture and implementation of Siemens Teamcenter Architecture with NX. Our collaborative team is responsible for defining and developing the PLM Architecture and Solution landscape. We are looking for an seasoned Architect interested in designing and building information systems to support construction of some of the largest and most complex products in the world. Our IT build and maintain systems that process information across Engineering, Planning, Operations and Manufacturing. We are the sole designer and builder of U.S. Navy Aircraft Carriers and one of two providers of U.S. Navy Submarines.

Must Have

Bachelor?s Degree and 14 years of relevant exempt experience; Master?s Degree and 12 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 9 years of experience.

One of the following may be used as an equivalent to Bachelor's Degree for Information Technology Related Positions Only:

NNS Apprentice School graduate

Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate

Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience

Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience

High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience

High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

A relevant professional certification can be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.

Nice to Have

Preferred Skills - NX:

• In-depth understanding of Siemens Toolset specially NX customization, Interface with Teamcenter

• Experience in Teamcenter development using TcU ( Java, C++, ITK, SOA), BMIDE, Workflow configuration is a plus

• Experience with one/more Teamcenter modules like: Requirements manager, Manufacturing Process Planner, Classification, Structure manager is a plus

• Understanding of 4GD, NGP is plus

Preferred Skills - Teamcenter:

• In-depth understanding of Siemens Toolset, including Teamcenter Unified

• Experience in Teamcenter development using TcU ( Java, C++, ITK, SOA)

• Expertise in two or more of following areas: BMIDE, Workflow configuration and custom handlers, AM rule Tree, Java API, SOA based TC coding

• Experience with one/more Teamcenter modules like: Requirements manager, Manufacturing Process Planner, Classification, Structure manager

• Experience in Configuring excel reports, teamcenter reporting is a plus

• Understanding of NX and/or NX integration with Teamcenter, 4GD, NGP experience is plus

Responsibilities

• Architect will be responsible for providing strategic direction for the creation, development, execution, and leadership of all aspects of PLM toolsets

• Manage multiple initiatives, build/maintain strong business relationships, drive solution-oriented discussions with key cross-functional business stakeholders

• Establish close partnership with Vendors, stakeholder and governance body to help drive product roadmap and define/enforce standards and policies.

• Map current PLM application architecture and capabilities to evaluate the technical and business impact of future functional needs.

• Work closely with the Project Manager/Stakeholders, Architects and IT development team to ensure strong communication and integration across value chain.

• Act as trusted advisor to the leadership team regarding enterprise value improvement opportunities that drive efficient use of PLM toolset

• Collaborate with technical team members and external customers to define and implement solutions for PLM/CAE applications including streamlining processes, evaluating impact, updating or replacing existing solutions, determining deliverables, and developing communication plans.

• Interface with staff of all levels and work with PLM vendors for resolutions to highly complex and unique application issues.
