Sign-On Bonus:Were pleased to offer a sign-on bonus as a warm welcome to our team, recognizing the valuable expertise you bring POSITION SUMMARY The Occupational Therapist will provide diagnostic evaluations and treatment to assigned patients, and help patients reach maximum performance level and to use skills learned to the fullest to function in the community within the limits of their capabilities. This position demonstrates the clinical competence and knowledge necessary to provide treatment appropriate to the age of the patients served. CORE FUNCTIONS 1. Provides consultation in areas such as environmental design, adaptive equipment, proper positioning of patients to prevent contractures and splinting. Administers and writes evaluations, reevaluations and discharge notes of assigned patients in accordance with state, national, and departmental standards and procedures. 2. Review patients medical history and asses their condition and needs. Evaluate patients' ability to do certain tasks or ADLs (activities of daily living). Confer with physicians, patients and their families, nurses, therapists, social workers, and other members of a patient's care team to develop a treatment plan for patients with specific goals and tasks that will help them meet those goals. 3. Documents according to standards set by the department and regulatory agencies. Completes documentation within the established time frames of the department. Documents innovative and individualized treatment techniques/plan. Documentation reflects comprehensive assessment of patient's progress or lack of progress. Treatment goals are reassessed according to department policies 4. Communicates patient information to ensure the best possible care. Communicates treatment results, and patient progress to physicians, nurses, patient, family/caregiver and the interdisciplinary team. Communicates in a clear and timely manner. Defends treatment rationale with standard practices and/or current literature. 5. Educate a patients family about how to help care for and accommodate them and recommend and teach patients how to use adaptive equipment that will help them with daily living, such as wheelchairs, eating aids, etc. 6. Demonstrates appropriate supervision, direction and delegation of personnel to achieve safe delivery of quality cost effective patient care. direction and delegation. Participates in the training and orientation of new personnel. Assures competency of personnel, prior to delegation of task. 7. Department operational activities. Attends required department staff meetings and/or follows up to obtain pertinent information. Participates in department/facility process improvement. Meets productivity standards set by the department. 8. This position has responsibility for interacting with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies concerning the health care of the patient. Also interacts with the physician offices in order to report, requires or clarify information. 9. Forming custom splints, applying prefabricated braces to support, protect, or assist with function, or to increase motion in the region. Assess patients' progress against goals and prepare reports for healthcare providers and insurance agencies. Acts as the activities coordinator for swing bed/SNF patients. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must have graduated from an accredited Occupational Therapy program. Must possess a current Arizona Occupational Therapy license. BLS certification required. Relates throughout the interview process their clinical competency, experience, training and education they have received that is required to perform the job. Two or more years of previous experience in all aspects of occupational therapy. However, new grads will be considered for this position. Patient care equipment, and therapeutic modalities. Copier, multi-line/multi-feature telephone, fax machine, computer, pager, and miscellaneous office equipment.
