Job Description
A Small World Pediatric Dentistry is excited to announce a new job opening for a dedicated and dynamic Dental Assistant. We are a well-established, family-oriented pediatric dental practice conveniently located at the North Phoenix - Scottsdale border. This full-time position is designed for individuals who are passionate about child dental care and who thrive in a fast-paced, professional environment. Please note, this opportunity is not a remote job and requires the candidate's physical presence at our clinic location.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, and prepare them for their examinations.
- Assist with preventive dental care services, including teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies.
- Perform X-rays and other diagnostic procedures to support the dentist's assessments.
- Conduct coronal polishing to remove plaque and stains ensuring children leave with a clean and healthy smile.
- Provide chairside assistance during various dental procedures such as fillings, extractions, and sealant application.
- Support the dentist during IV sedation cases by setting up sedation equipment, monitoring patient vitals and ensuring patient safety throughout the procedure.
- Maintain dental equipment, sterilize instruments and ensure all areas are clean and organized according to safety protocols.
- Document treatment information in patient records accurately and efficiently.
- Participate actively in staff meetings and contribute to team effort through cooperative and coordinated work.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant; experience in pediatric dentistry highly preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills to ensure each child and parent feels comfortable and valued.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations within a dental office (OSHA, HIPAA).
- Technical proficiency with dental software and equipment including digital X-ray machines.
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism under pressure, especially during pediatric emergency situations.
- Certification from an accredited dental assistant program.
- Current CPR certification is required.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both children and adults.
- Team-oriented mindset with a positive and enthusiastic attitude towards work and continuous learning.
- Flexibility to work during various shifts, including evenings and some weekends.
