Our challenge We are seeking a versatile and skilled engineer with a strong foundation in production support, data engineering, Python development, and site reliability. The ideal candidate will have a blend of skills in managing production systems, developing data pipelines, scripting with Python, and ensuring site reliability. This role will require the ability to troubleshoot, develop, and maintain high-availability, data-driven applications and infrastructure. Additional Information The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Alpharetta GA is $110K - $115K/year & benefits (see below). Job Description: We are seeking a versatile and skilled engineer with a strong foundation in production support, data engineering, Python development, and site reliability. The ideal candidate will have a blend of skills in managing production systems, developing data pipelines, scripting with Python, and ensuring site reliability. This role will require the ability to troubleshoot, develop, and maintain high-availability, data-driven applications and infrastructure. Responsibilities: Production Support Engineering Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues across multiple environments, ensuring uptime and performance targets. Perform root cause analysis on recurring issues, work towards permanent solutions, and create runbooks to document best practices. Provide on-call support as required, participating in incident response and post-incident analysis to continuously improve processes. Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure smooth production rollouts, patches, and maintenance activities. Data Engineering Design, implement, and maintain robust ETL/ELT data pipelines to support data transformation, storage, and delivery requirements. Optimize data processing workflows and manage data quality, ensuring efficient data transfer, transformation, and storage. Work with stakeholders to understand data needs, perform data modeling, and design data storage solutions (e.g., data lakes, warehouses). Integrate data from multiple sources, implementing data governance, security, and compliance requirements. Python Development Develop, optimize, and maintain Python scripts, applications, and automation tools to support production and data engineering needs. Write clean, scalable, and well-documented Python code for a variety of applications, including data processing, API integration, and task automation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain solutions that support business requirements and enhance user experience. Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Design and implement infrastructure automation, monitoring, and alerting systems to improve service reliability and reduce manual work. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and manage infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible). Monitor and improve system performance, availability, scalability, and security. Set up and manage logging, alerting, and monitoring frameworks, conducting performance tuning and capacity planning. Requirements: Technical Skills : Programming : Proficiency in Python (required); familiarity with SQL, Bash, and other scripting languages is a plus. Data Engineering : Hands-on experience with data pipelines, ETL/ELT, and data warehousing (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Kafka). Production Support : Strong troubleshooting skills; experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, Splunk, New Relic). SRE : Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible). Experience : Minimum 3-5 years in roles related to production support, data engineering, or software development. Experience in setting up monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices for high-availability environments. Familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices is beneficial. Soft Skills : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A proactive approach to learning new technologies and continuously improving systems and processes. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and work independently or within a team.
