What you’ll be doing...
The ERM Controls Assurance team partners with Business & IT Leaders overseeing enterprise wide initiatives, to ensure IT and Business Process controls are sufficiently being designed and implemented to mitigate financial and and other operational risks.
As an IT Consultant on the Controls Assurance team, you will be leading ITGC, SDLC and Automated Business Process Control risk identification and control design efforts impacted by major System Integrations/Migrations and Business Process changes. You will be working directly with IT and Business stakeholders, and partnering with other ERM Controls Assurance team members, to make strategic control design decisions that meet Verizon’s compliance needs, but also take IT and Business stakeholders’ needs into consideration. Your work will help us improve our processes and discover ways to make our control environment even stronger.
Demonstrating a high level of competency evaluating regulatory risks and control design, especially related to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and Data Governance.
Assessing IT risks within Business Processes (interfaces, key reports, automated controls).
Working closely with Business partners to identify financial reporting and regulatory risks, and designing controls to mitigate those risks.
Working closely with IT partners to identify ITGC related risks, and designing controls to mitigate those risks.
Testing System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) controls for new system implementations.
Developing process flow diagrams that accurately summarize Business Processes, highlighting relevant risks and key control points.
Coordinating with Verizon’s external auditors to ensure alignment on relevant risk areas, and the sufficiency of controls designed to address those risks.
Reviewing work performed by consulting partners supplementing our team to ensure strong team integration and timeliness/quality of deliverables.
Performing test of design procedures over internal controls.
Executing on time sensitive issues and bringing them to appropriate conclusions.
Providing training and coaching to professional staff on all areas of risk and control design.
Preparing and presenting materials on control decisions and project status to executive and senior management.

You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Math, or Information Systems or four or more years of work experience.
Four or more years of relevant work experience.
Experience designing and testing internal controls (Business Process and ITGCs).
Project management experience.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
A Master's degree in Business Administration.
A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
A Professional certification (CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE).
Experience using data analytic tools (ACL, Tableau, Qlik).
Experience driving complex solutions and analytics to provide ongoing and automated monitoring of key risks.
Experience formulating, interpreting and implementing policies and processes.
Telecommunications experience.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
