General Summary:
Create state-of-the-art machine learning development tools and software libraries. Design software libraries to assist in building and executing software. Develop computer algorithms to complete specific software tasks for cutting edge computer vision speech and machine learning experiences for the end users of our operating systems. Work across compiler technologies, system architecture, and processor architecture on devices to ensure our operating systems continue to operate properly. Define and build user-facing application programming interfaces and software packages to enable users to interact with our operating systems. Interact with customers as needed and provide engineering roadmap in order to assist in prioritization of deliverables.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 3+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred to have at least 1 year of prior work experience in each of the following:
Writing scalable software backed by relational databases including PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
Building, testing, and deploying using AWS CloudFormation to synthesize resources from templates, CDK to represent infrastructure as code, and Github Actions or comparable technologies to implement CI/CD workflows.
Using Amazon Load Balancer, Elastic Load Balancer, or comparable technologies to create and deploy horizontally-scalable services.
Monitoring software health using automated monitors and alarms on AWS CloudWatch or a comparable platform to identify and address any problems.
Writing performant and testable software using Python and/or Java, with dependency locking using modern tools and platforms like pip, Poetry, gradle or equivalent.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Leverages advanced Machine Learning knowledge to extend training or runtime frameworks or model efficiency software tools with new features and optimizations.
• Models, architects, and develops advanced machine learning hardware (co-designed with machine learning software) for inference or training solutions.
• Develops optimized software to enable AI models deployed on hardware (e.g., machine learning kernels, compiler tools, or model efficiency tools, etc.) to allow specific hardware features; collaborates with hardware teams for joint design and development.
• Develops and applies machine learning techniques into products and/or AI solutions to enable customers to do the same.
• Develops, adapts, or prototypes novel machine learning solutions aligned with and motivated by proposals or roadmaps for complex products and working features.
• Oversees and conducts experiments to train and evaluate machine learning models and/or software.
Level of Responsibility:
• Works independently with minimal supervision.
• Provides supervision/guidance to other team members.
• Decision-making is significant in nature and affects work beyond immediate work group.
• Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information. May require negotiation, influence, tact, etc.
• Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to make key decisions).
• Tasks do not have defined steps; planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.

Pay range

$156,500.00 - $234,500.00
The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.
