The Director, Strategic Initiatives will report to the EVP, Corporate Treasurer. This dynamic, fast-paced role partners with the Treasury Leadership Team and CEG to ensure Treasury maintains the right strategies, organizational structure, and capabilities to ensure the Company’s balance sheet enables business growth and can withstand shocks. The Director, Strategic Initiatives plays a key role providing analytical, strategic, communications and executional support for the Treasury organization. The incumbent will be a strong strategic thinker who possesses the confidence and composure to successfully drive the implementation of a wide range of initiatives working across multiple teams within Treasury and other key partner groups across Finance and the Blue Box.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Build strong working relationships across the group, as well as with business partner groups to maximize collaboration, problem solving and generate solutions to deliver results.
Serve as a thought partner to the Treasury Leadership team.
Build impactful and comprehensive agendas and presentations for senior management.
Act as a central point of contact for high priority business initiatives, information requests and updates.
Create internal and external organizational communications through a wide range of channels including memos, announcements, Town Halls.
Lead other ad-hoc projects that are department wide priorities as well as projects requiring strategic analysis and data consolidation.
Liaise closely with Colleague Strategic Partner (CSP) and lead the execution of a wide range of Performance and Talent initiatives e.g., Talent Assessment, PMP, Learning and Development. Assist in development and execution of strategies and initiatives to drive Colleague Engagement.
Manage the overall organization budgeting and Opex tracking process.
Requirements
Demonstrated strategic thinking and analytical skills, ideally with Treasury knowledge and experience and proven track record in project management.
Superior organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, with great follow-up and attention to detail, and work well in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
Strong drive and high personal accountability to deliver results within tight timeframes; ability to prioritize effectively when faced with changing priorities.
Ability to influence across all band levels to drive results
Superior written and verbal communication skills, including ability to storyboard presentations.
Excellent relationship and influencing skills for dealing with a wide range of issues and people at different levels; proven ability to navigate effectively and efficiently within American Express.
Creative problem solver who can manage tasks and projects autonomously with minimal supervision.
Energetic, curious, self-motivated, proactive and able to work well under pressure and in an unstructured environment.
Strong executive presence, self-awareness, and integrity – able to maintain strict confidentiality.
Position will be based in NY.
Qualifications
Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
