Supports physicians, clinicians, healthcare workers, affiliates and partners by providing continuous support, troubleshooting and identification of opportunities for clinical information system improvements. Promotes future and present system functionality by designing, testing, communicating and training the clinical information systems. This position reports to the Chief Nursing Informatics Officer, and works closely with Principal Trainers, Credentialed Trainers, Application Leads, IT and operational teams. Operationally, this position works collaboratively with CMIOs, CNOs, and other clinical leadership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, computer science, business, informatics or related field

OR

four (4) years' experience performing system analysis with business, clinical or administrative applications required.

2. This position may require additional certification in support of the responsibilities of the position, which will be provided by WVUHS Information Technology. Certification completion will be required within four months of formal certification training completion.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Two (2) years' experience performing system analysis of business, clinical or administrative applications required.

2. Internal employees must meet all mandatory competencies in current position in order to qualify for promotion within IT.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Clinical certification or licensure, such as but not limited to Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Medical Assistant (MA), Medical Technologist (MT), Respiratory Therapist (RT)

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. System analysis: Acts as change agent in the identification, development, planning, implementation, and value measurement of strategies to support and integrate quality patient care and professional practice. Assesses, plans, designs, and implements and evaluates clinical workflows. Researches, gathers, analyzes information and proposes solutions for documentation efficiencies. Participates in new/modification workflow requests. Participates in workflow and support tool discovery prior to implementation. Knowledgeable of existing user workflows

2. Problem identification and Resolution: Evaluates the effectiveness of technologies and workflows that impact clinical users, including identification of hardware issues. Monitors the clinical environment, technology, and infrastructure to support the prevention of medical errors and adverse reactions. Prepares test scripts and testing clinical workflows as needed.

3. System Management: Reports local issues as tickets when needed. Reviews provider efficiency tools and performance data and facilitates improvement in the overall quality, completeness, and accuracy of medical record documentation through interaction with physicians, nursing staff, medical record coders, and IT. Ensures clinical practices and corresponding policy/procedures follow compliance, Joint Commission requirements and other applicable regulations and standards. Participates as a project leader and support, focusing on initiatives supporting clinical care services.

4. Training and Education: Performs clinical training and reports training promoting safe, effective and efficient use of the electronic health record. Provides at the elbow support. Promote the proper use of the electronic health record to improve patient safety. Provides education on decision support tools. Performs clinical rounding in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Continually assesses the education needs of end users. Plans and contributes to formal and informal education. Serves as liaison for build teams and training representing clinical users. Liaison to operational departments. Provides classroom training, one-on-one training, and end-user remediation for adult learners. Assesses staff readiness and abilities in the use of applicable systems. Provides end-user systems support.

5. Communication: Participates in local clinical and compliance councils as it relates to the electronic health record. Interfaces with nursing leadership, medical staff office and CMIO as well as build and training counterparts. Acts as a liaison with Principal Trainers, Credentialed Trainers, Application Leads, IT and operational teams.

6. Team Building: Participates in training and professional development sessions. Participates in departmental teams. Travels independently to remote sites and communicates back to the team while working offsite Exhibits objectivity and openness to the view of others, including patients/families and customers. Offers assistance and support to co-workers. Contributes to building positive team spirit and cohesiveness. Balances team and individual responsibilities. Works proactively and cooperatively in group problem-solving situations. Encourages peers to seek innovative approaches to solve problems. 7. This position may require travel to other West Virginia United Health System (WVUHS) facilities or affiliated sites to assist with implementations, training, and/or support
