Under general supervision, the production assembler supports lean manufacturing processes through complete assembly, testing, and calibrating intricate devices to Customer specifications
Performs moderately diversified work involving adjusting, fitting, and aligning to strict inspection
Receive shop orders, drawings or verbal instructions to assemble various products
Set-up work stations for assembly operations and perform assembly of a variety of products using hand and power tools, arbor and pneumatic pressures
May be required to observe and inspect work of less experienced Assemblers
Reports any irregularities found on routing information
Responsible for operations on repetitive work to close and exacting tolerances, requiring the use of a variety of measuring tools or instruments
Follows established procedures, drawings, specifications and/or general verbal directions
May instruct or train other operators
Participates in continuous improvement processes
Performs other duties as directed
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires writing and math skills normally acquired through high school education
May require the ability to work hours outside of normal business hours
Strong hand/eye coordination skills
Ability to safely and accurately use a wide variety of tools and mechanical or electronic measuring instruments
Working knowledge of assembly procedures and techniques acquired through on-the-job training
Ability to read, comprehend, and follow written instructions and read drawings, blueprint specifications, or equivalent
Ability to interact and participate in a team driven environment
Works in accordance with general safety rules and practice
Keeps immediate work area clean and free from hazards
Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
Concentrated mental and visual attention with a high degree of manual dexterity and visual attention for sustained periods
Repetitive hand motions
Must be able to work in a typical machine shop environment with exposure to oil, dust, dirt, heat fumes, cold, continuous noise, vibrations, etc.
Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment including earplugs, safety glasses, and steel-toed shoes
Requires continuous physical activity such as walking, standing, lifting; at times, in an OSHA designated noise environment (over 85 decibels)
