Summary
As a Research Compliance Associate for the Research Conflict of Interest (RCOI) Office, you will provide research conflict of interest compliance reviews, monitoring of Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) and Institutional Conflict of Interest (ICOI) management plans, and support to the RCOI and committee with reporting these reviews on a monthly basis. This position ensures that BCM staff and investigators are in compliance with Public Health Service (PHS) regulations as well as other federal regulations related to the management of Financial Conflicts of Interests in Research and is designed to promote objectivity in research.
Job Duties
Assists the Director of Research Compliance with complex protocol and proposal reviews, and significant financial interest reviews. Offers guidance and coordination in regards to regulatory requirements for managing research conflicts of interest (RCOI). Serves as one of the OOR Contacts for Investigators and Staff with navigating the Disclosure of Outside Interests Tool for disclosures of Significant Financial Interests (SFIs). Provides customer service and regulatory guidance for investigators in relation to reviews of SFIs, Management Plan adherence, compliance questions from phone calls or emails to the Research Conflict of Interest general email inbox. Acts as a liaison between the Research Conflict of Interest Committee and the investigators to ensure that information related to compliance is provided in a timely fashion as requested. Builds and maintains effective relationships with Investigators. Works closely with Investigators across the College to manage FCOIs and ICOIs and ensure that all management plans are adhered to properly to comply with regulatory and college requirements. Assists with the development, communication of, and implementation of policies, procedures, updates to disclosure forms, updates to the disclosure system, and guidance for the College's research community and Research Conflict of Interest Committee. Assesses concerns of non-compliance (both routine and for cause) in the area of Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) management plans and Institutional Conflict of Interest (ICOI) management plans at the College. Conducts and coordinates educational workshops and seminars regarding issues in RCOI and adherence to management plans and compliance with regulations and college policy. Supports the Research Conflict of Interest Committee (RCOIC) as needed, including preparing disclosures and other agenda items for committee review, creating meeting agendas, collaborating with the RCOIC Chair and others to conduct the meetings, and writing meeting minutes. Works with the Director of Research IT and Executive Director of Research Compliance to implement improvements for more efficient workflow. Applies applicable institutional policies, federal, state, and local regulations when reviewing research FCOIs' management plans for adherence. Develops internal procedures to ensure compliance with policy. Prepares external communications to federal oversight agencies and regulatory bodies. Plans and organizes a variety of projects directly related to the departmental goals. Assists supervisor with the preparation of aggregate quarterly and annual compliance reports provided to college leadership. Provides additional new and ongoing training to current and new members of the compliance team. Works with team members to ensure completion of mutual performance goals. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. Two years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree.
