JOB TITLE: Security Coordinator


LOCATION: History Center - 345 W Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55102

COMPENSATION: $51,854.40 annual minimum


STATUS & HOURS: Full-time, regular (approximately 2,080 annual hours) position.


BENEFITS: Eligible to participate in State Employee Group Insurance Program and a retirement program with employer contribution. Generous vacation and sick time accruals with additional paid holidays.

DESCRIPTION: This position exists to support and administer Security & Risk programs, projects, and functions with an emphasis on the MN History Center physical security program, MN History Center emergency management program, access management administration, and to support building operations.


SUMMARY OF WORK: 1) Coordinate and provide oversight to the MNHS Physical Security Program at the Minnesota History Center; 2) Manage access control for the Minnesota History Center; 3) Provide oversight and administration to the MN History Center emergency management program; and 4) Support the History Center Facilities and building operations teams.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, security, non-profit administration, or a related field.

  • Two years of program experience in security, emergency response, access control or an advanced degree in related field.

  • Knowledge of cultural institution security and cultural institution administration.

  • Knowledge and skill in verbal, written, and graphic communication sufficient to work with diverse groups of people.

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and all aspects of GOOGLE suite.

  • Strong organization and documentation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to think imaginatively and problem solve.

  • Demonstrated positive customer service skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines, prioritize and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take individual initiative while also being able to collaborate effectively and contribute positively in a team environment.

  • Strong detail orientation with the ability to synthesize and organize complex information and maintain/upgrade systems and processes.

  • Strong record-keeping skills sufficient to maintain thorough and accurate records.

  • Ability to extract data from the records, analyze, and prepare summary reports.

  • Ability and willingness to travel.

  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to turn, twist, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch while investigating, observing and assessing.

  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in museums, historic sites, or other cultural institution security.

  • Experience managing multiple projects.

  • At least one year of experience successfully leading cross-functional teams.

  • At least one year of experience in emergency management program development.

  • At least one year of experience managing risk-related programs.

  • Strong knowledge of security, emergency/disaster response, and/or safety programs.
