Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING OR SKILL REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma;
- 1 year of phlebotomy experience required;
- 1 year medical assistant experience required;
- 2 years of multi-phone line communication preferred;
- 2 years of customer service preferred;
- Organizational skills
- Able to multitask
- Detail oriented
- Must have ability to work with staff in confined area
- Advanced communication and people-skills: ability to efficiently deliver information, exchange ideas, and manage social situations.
- Bilingual - Spanish REQUIRED
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE: Medical Assistant, Preferred; Phlebotomist, Required
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS:
Medical Assistant
- Explain treatment procedures to patients
- Assist the physician during exams and patient checkups.
- Perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, answering calls, taking patients' medical history and filing and maintaining patient records
- Schedule patient appointments and maintain communication to confirm future appointments
- Coordinate daily office activities (i.e. greeting patients and checking patients in and out for their appointments)
- Take tissue and fluid samples and send them in for laboratory analysis
- Prepare and administer medications under the direction of supervising physician.
- Prepare exam rooms for clinical procedures and assist practitioners with patient care
Phlebotomy
- Preparing patients before drawing blood.
- Verifying patient information and labeling blood samples properly.
- Gathering medical testing materials (needles, sample vials, blood storage bags, etc.)
- Keep accurate records on fluid specimens and tests
- Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards while working
