Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist

                                                                                                                                                                                 

                                                                                                        

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING OR SKILL REQUIRED:

• High School Diploma;
• 1 year of phlebotomy experience required;
• 1 year medical assistant experience required;
• 2 years of multi-phone line communication preferred;
• 2 years of customer service preferred;
• Organizational skills
• Able to multitask
• Detail oriented
• Must have ability to work with staff in confined area
  
• Advanced communication and people-skills: ability to efficiently deliver information, exchange ideas, and manage social situations.
• Bilingual - Spanish REQUIRED

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE: Medical Assistant, Preferred; Phlebotomist, Required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS:

Medical Assistant

• Explain treatment procedures to patients
• Assist the physician during exams and patient checkups.
• Perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, answering calls, taking patients' medical history and filing and maintaining patient records

• Schedule patient appointments and maintain communication to confirm future appointments
• Coordinate daily office activities (i.e. greeting patients and checking patients in and out for their appointments)
• Take tissue and fluid samples and send them in for laboratory analysis
• Prepare and administer medications under the direction of supervising physician.
• Prepare exam rooms for clinical procedures and assist practitioners with patient care

 Phlebotomy

• Preparing patients before drawing blood.
• Verifying patient information and labeling blood samples properly.
• Gathering medical testing materials (needles, sample vials, blood storage bags, etc.)
• Keep accurate records on fluid specimens and tests
• Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards while working
