The incumbent organizes, directs, reviews, administers personnel matters & manages the unit budget. The incumbent reports to the Supervisory Chief Nurse Executive and/or Assistant Chief Nurse Executive (ACNE).
Duties
Provides direction, leadership, guidance, professionalism, supervision, and evaluation to the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) and Housekeeping Aide staff.
Responsible for the provision of nursing care on the unit including compliance with standards of care, patient safety, and compliance with other applicable standards.
Evaluate daily operations and services provided to ensure efficient use of resources. Assesses the patient flow, the workflow, and productivity and takes appropriate corrective action for evaluation.
Selects and hires employees for vacant positions. This includes the interview, evaluation of the applications and recommendation to the official selection for the position. Provides supervision to subordinate employees, including counseling, disciplinary action, corrective action, evaluation, and overall management of each unit employee.
Functions in the Operating Room and CSR environment, following protocol set up by OR committees
Works collaboratively with other Nursing leaders to meet the Division of Nursing initiatives and goals.
Manages the Central Service Room and Housekeeping Aides and ensures that all hospital Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization, Federal guidelines and all other applicable standards are met.
Observes and assesses patient's health status and critically ill emergency patients by physical assessment and examination, interviewing patient and family members and patient's health history. Independently assesses and interprets the data, patient's condition and recognizes normal/abnormal parameters for appropriate nursing action to be taken.
Develops, implements and evaluates an individualized plan of care and delivers care to patients for specific care needed for after surgical procedures.
