Job Description
Southern California United Food & Commercial Workers Unions & Food Employers Joint Benefit Funds Administration, LLC (The Funds) were created more than 40 years ago as a result of collective bargaining between the Southern California Retail Food Employers and the Southern California UFCW Union Locals. The Funds serve in excess of 100,000 participants! There are two Funds, the Pension Fund and the Benefit Fund--through which member retirement and health and welfare benefits are provided.
The Funds Office is currently searching for a supportive Accounting Clerk, to join our growing Accounting Department. This position is subject to Collective Bargaining.
General Responsibilities:
- Prepare and/or print daily ARP Panagon balancing report, number of claims report, benefit cash report and medical/dental/ortho check registers.
- Check ACH Fraud Filter report daily; pull, distribute and log lockbox, returned item and ACH Notice of Change reports daily. Respond to exceptions on Image Positive Pay.
- Process and distribute check stop Payment requests and check voids. Pull and distribute cancelled check requests daily.
- Pull stale dated checks for void processing on a weekly basis. Process and distribute ACH delete and reversal requests, as well as bank credits and debits, on a monthly basis.
- Input wire transfers in CEO as requested by cash desk.
- Serve as back up for vendor accounts payable desk, transmission balancing, pension and IAP manual check processing, tax deposit processing and provider check register recording.
- Assist Accounting Supervisor, Controller and Assistant Controller as needed and perform other job related duties/special projects as assigned.
- Comply with the policies of the Trust Fund, as set forth in the Employee Handbook.
- Regular and consistent attendance.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED required
Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a combination of education and experience
Online banking experience and a minimum of three years (3) office experience, preferably in an accounting environment.
Able to utilize MS Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) required
Strong Excel skills at the advanced level and ability to create spreadsheets and other reports
Strong data entry skills
Ability to type and use ten key with accuracy
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to work independently and complete responsibilities on a timely basis
