In this Distinguished Wireless Network Engineer role, you will work on critically important cellular networks for the Department of Defense. Our program provides the US Government with unique capabilities in our commercial networks to support emergency communication needs during natural or man-made events and disasters. You will lead 4G and 5G wireless network architecture projects for the DoD, develop technical proposals, work with cross-functional teams to gather customer requirements and develop architecture solutions and compliance matrices that meet performance, usability, scalability, reliability, and security needs in accordance with our government customers' requirements and industry standards.
In this role you will... Function as the central technical point of contact for the Verizon sales team and other associated internal organizations.
Lead and manage the engineering team's efforts to generate all material and documentation regarding DHS CISA-ECD customer requests, including RFIs, ROMs, and both technical and pricing volumes for RFPs.
Develop and validate VoLTE/VoNR architecture and engineering requirements, network impact assessment, engineering design standards, and network statistics definition.
Lead, manage, track, and author documentation deliverables to align with the government's system engineering life cycle (SELC) process.
Serve as the central technical subject matter expert (SME) and chief consultant for priority services while working closely with engineers and planners to recommend service improvements and guide network planning, network evolution, and growth strategy plans for priority services.
Provide leadership, guidance, and technical direction on engineering projects to define goals and identify the scope of work needed to develop standards-based solution architectures for specific customer requirements for priority voice, data, video, and information services.
Participate in inter-departmental project activities and Big Team Reviews (BTR) to ascertain any impacts on the priority services program.
Create technical architecture, engineering requirements, network impact assessments, engineering design standards, alarms, network statistics definitions, and metrics.
Facilitate growth and maintain relationships between internal Verizon organizations and third-party vendor (TPV) contacts with the ability to convey feature requirement documents to associated vendors accurately.
Lead efforts in higher-tier troubleshooting of priority services, validating configurations on communication media segments and network elements.
Work closely with production network and maintenance engineering lab teams in the development, testing, and implementation of priority services features.
Create and implement test plans while maintaining and recommending changes to test cases, test procedures, and instructions for successful end-to-end testing of priority service features in both the wireline and wireless network elements.
Perform call tracing in a complex network and provide multi-protocol analysis.
Examine and troubleshoot flows using various packet analyzer tools, such as IrisView and WireShark, and independently analyze performance trends of various high-level and engineering-level Key Performance Indicators for priority services.
Develop and maintain proactive working relationships with all appropriate levels within and outside the company.
Satisfy customer technical, product quality, and timely delivery expectations.
Work closely with the production network teams in the development, testing, and implementation of advanced data core features.
Create and implement test plans, maintain and recommend changes to test cases, test procedures, and instructions for successful end-to-end testing of priority service features in the VoLTE IMS network elements.
Document the test cases and clean up discrepancies and ambiguity in the test, including validation with architects to ensure the correct call flow, clearly and accurately document and discuss the discrepancies, anomalies, or issues with the test case.
Examine and troubleshoot call flows using various packet analyzer tools and independently analyze performance trends of various high-level and engineering-level Key Performance Indicators for priority services
Develop and maintain excellent proactive working relationships with all appropriate levels within and outside the company, especially internal teams.
You will be responsible for satisfying customer technical, product quality, and timely delivery expectations.
Mentor other team members on networking, application design, engineering, and automation while acting as the final escalation point to support production service issues in concert with application, operational, and triage teams.
Lead performance meetings with the vendors, planning, and maintenance engineering, and creating detailed project plans.
Provide input on status calls with teams across several organizations.
Finish projects independently and meeting tight timelines without impacting critical services.
Where you'll be working... This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager. The only viable location for this position is the Richardson, Texas metro area. What we're looking for... You're a technical expert in 4G and 5G wireless architecture with experience managing multiple medium to large projects simultaneously. Cross-functional work is ideal for you, given your collaborative nature and ability to work with various stakeholders across the organization. You have experience and knowledge in scripting and automation and have a knack for using these abilities to increase efficiency within a production environment. You will have a strong, customer-centric voice in assisting with and implementing our strategic roadmap.

Six or more years of experience with 4G and 5G technologies and LTE architecture.
Six or more years of experience with SIP protocol and IMS-based services.
Six or more years of experience with Mobility Network Experience Domain knowledge.
Six or more years of experience with Packet Analysis for VoLTE (or VOIP) Protocols in the Wireless domain of 5G-NR, LTE, /UMTS/LTE.
Six or more years of experience with LTE, UMTS, VoLTE, VoNR, and GSM/GPRS Call flows.
Experience with 3GPP LTE and 3GPP 5G-NR SA mobile core and transport network architectures for mobile networks.
Experience with SIP call flow, TCP Protocols, OSI Model and protocol analysis using Wireshark
Six or more years of knowledge of call processes between End-to-end system testing, Configuration, Feature Testing, Protocol Specifications, and Analysis.
Experience presenting to CxO-level audiences
Have or be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD government clearance at the Secret level
Be located within commutable distance to the Verizon office in Richardson, Texas
Even better if you also have... A degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, IT, Computer Science, or Technology-related field.
Proficient in standard business productivity suites: Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc. required.
