Overview: The Oncology Pharmacist Coordinator oversees medication approval, dispensing, and counseling of patients undergoing cancer treatment services. This role is responsible for supervising the Oncology Pharmacy team, as well as performing drug compounding. This role serves as a liaison, supporting pharmacy staff, technicians and hospital staff as needed for caring for patients receiving cancer treatment. Talent Pool: Allied Health Responsibilities: Conducts rounds with healthcare team and provides pharmaceutical care to patients to achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes. Reviews medication profiles for appropriate drug selection, dose, route and frequency. Identifying and resolves actual drug-related problems and develops plan to prevent potential drug-related problems. Supervises all distributive aspects of pharmaceutical care provided to patients. Improves systems and processes to ensure safe, accurate and timely provision of all aspects of pharmaceutical care. Guides pharmacists through educational programs to increase knowledge of appropriate pharmacotherapy use and patient monitoring. Manages the human resources of the program to ensure talent needs are met, including hiring, scheduling, performance evaluation, and developmental opportunities. Performs other duties as reasonably required or assigned. Qualifications: EDUCATION: Required: Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy; Advanced degree in Pharmacy and/or completion of a residency in a hospital pharmacy from a program accredited by the American Society of Health EXPERIENCE: Required: Three years of pharmacy technician work experience OR three years prior authorization and/or copay assistance programs work experience OR three years combined pharmacy technician/prior authorization and copay assistance work experience LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: Required: Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP) must be successfully completed within 1 year of hire; Current license to practice pharmacy in North Carolina, or eligible to obtain North Carolina pharmacy license within two months of hire
