Public Health Power BI Developer
to work
remote
with the possibility of working onsite in
Atlanta, GA
at some point in the future. In this role you will provide Power BI dashboard development and data visualization support for dashboards related to disease surveillance for the CDC Office of Public Health Data, Surveillance, and Technology (OPHDST). Specific data analytics and visualization skill requirements include experience with healthcare/public health data and analysis across very large disease surveillance datasets using Microsoft PowerBI as the analytics and visualization tool for creation of complex dashboards. Primary activities include data preparation and dashboard and visualization creation, standard operating procedure recommendations relating to routine development and maintenance of dashboards, and support to clients including epidemiologists and data scientists. Your role is as a public health Power BI dash boarder is to work closely with your client to analyze and prepare complex dashboards against public health datasets including disease surveillance and related reporting data. You will provide technical consultation with program staff to develop the dashboards using pre-established templates and dashboard standards and interpret and visualize findings from the specified studies. You will be responsible for project management and implementation of the dashboards.
Responsibilities:
Maintain requisite knowledge for performing ETL on large data sets and data preparation for the data visualizations. Provide ongoing knowledge transfer to OPHDST staff as required.
Data preparation and analysis activities may require writing SQL queries on the disease surveillance data.
Support 508 compliance activities on the dashboards for internal CDC and external use.
Support CDC clearance process for scientific products and publications.
Verify results and validate dashboards with other known information.
Develop data analysis findings and materials and summarize and visualize results (for example, develop graphs for dashboards showing data metrics) using tools such as PowerBI.
Qualifications:
Public Health or related healthcare experience and experience supporting federal government in support roles
Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Information Systems, Computer Science and/or related program with 8+ years relevant experience
Microsoft certification(s) including PowerBI desired.
2+ years of experience supporting PowerApps and/or PowerBI dashboards
Experience with data wrangling tools and conducting data analysis on big data sets, data lakes in the cloud.
Experience with Public Health data analysis and with Big Data analysis programming techniques and technologies in a public health environment.
Possession of excellent analytical, data gathering, and problem-solving skills.
Experience supporting multiple concurrent on-going activities.
Project Management/Business Analysis experience leading application development projects
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Security Requirements:
Must be US Citizen or with the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance (Public Trust 5) within a reasonable period.
