GCyber is seeking a

Chief Network Engineer

to support a mission critical DoD environment. The Chief Network Engineer will serve as the technical lead for a mission-critical network Infrastructure program, overseeing all engineering, operations, and maintenance activities. This role is responsible for ensuring the effective management of both classified and unclassified network infrastructures. You will be a key point of escalation and technical authority, leading a team of network engineers and technicians to execute network modernization, infrastructure engineering, operations, and maintenance activities.

Due to the classification and nature of the work performed, this position will be full-time at the Government location.

As the

Chief Network Engineer , you will be repsonsible for: Network Operations Management:

Lead efforts to support Network Operations, managing approximately 15,000 IT assets, 2,000 end-users, and 400 network devices including Cisco routers, switches, F5 load balancers, RSA authentication managers, and encryption devices. Analyze traffic using SPAN/RSPAN, Wireshark, and on-device capturing tools and present findings to teammates and the customer. Act as the final escalation point for complex issues, coordinating Tier IV support for high-impact incidents that require advanced troubleshooting skills and technical expertise. Regularly assess network health, optimize device configurations, and apply updates to maintain optimal performance and reduce downtime across the network infrastructure.

Network Engineering and Modernization:

Support the development, management, and execution of the technology roadmap with a focus on identifying and prioritizing initiatives that reduce technical debt and improve service to the user community. Serve as the lead engineer for the design, development, integration, and testing of network upgrades. Oversee planning and modernization activities to ensure seamless integration of new capabilities into the existing infrastructure.

Cable Plant Infrastructure Management:

Lead and manage the operations and maintenance of the cable infrastructure across multiple sites including intra-facility and inter-facility cabling to support seamless communication and data transfer across various buildings and campuses. Oversee the full lifecycle of cable management from wall plate to end-user devices, providing essential connectivity that enables access to a wide range of IT services, including Internet and Intranet access, Voice over IP (VoIP), Video Teleconference (VTC), and the Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) for secure communications. Oversee the management of the PDSW system. Provide technical support for PDS device configurations and document all findings according to national security standards.

Documentation and Reporting:

Develop and maintain technical documentation, including engineering designs, configurations, and incident reports. Provide regular status updates to the program manager and government stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Active DoD TS/SCI Clearance DoD 8570 IAT II Certification or higher (https://public.cyber.mil/cw/cwmp/dod-approved-8570-baseline-certifications) Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CCNP-Enterprise preferred. Experience with VTP v3, Rapid PVST, LAG and MC-LAG Analyze traffic using SPAN/RSPAN, Wireshark, and on-device capturing tools and present findings to teammates and the customer. Strong working knowledge of network operations within a DoD environment. Demonstrated expertise in configuring, operating, maintaining, updating, and troubleshooting:

VPNs Cisco network devices, including routers and switches Routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP VRF-lite for segmentation within network environments F5 load balancers

Proficiency with RSA Authentication Manager / RSA SecurityID for secure network access control. Hands-on experience with F5 Load Balancers for traffic management and application delivery. Advanced skills in Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for

Network device AAA (Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting) using TACACS+ Endpoint AAA management using RADIUS.
