What is Therapitas? video
Not bilingual? No problem! (see below) Therapitas is looking for passionate, patient and mission-centric pediatric SLP/CFs and SLPAs who are ready to serve our patients and help deliver the best quality of care available! Therapitas is a growing group of outpatient pediatric therapy clinics in
Oklahoma City
and Tulsa working to ensure that Spanish-speaking children have the same access to appropriate therapy as any other child. Our therapy teams of PTs, OTs, and SLPs work together to develop a holistic approach to providing appropriate therapy for the children on their caseload. Paid Spanish Immersion Program (SIP)! Most of our SLPs are fluent in Spanish. However, skill level and how they learned the language varies from therapist to therapist. We have native speakers and non-native speakers and everyone's Spanish sounds different. The goal is to speak well enough to evaluate fairly, provide appropriate models, and engage in meaningful conversations with families. If you aren't confident about your Spanish skills, we can get you there! Our Spanish Immersion Program is offered in-person and/or virtually! Many of our therapists have completed our Spanish Immersion Program and are successfully practicing as bilingual SLPs. Where would I learn Spanish if I chose in-person? We have partnered with schools, child-centered facilities, and host families in the beautiful town of Antigua, Guatemala to provide the best and safest opportunity to learn and develop Spanish.
What is SIP? video If you will be a Clinical Fellow: After SIP (if needed), your experience will begin with an orientation week where you will complete training in assessment and treatment of bilingual speakers, observe your team members as they conduct assessments and treatment, learn how to use our EMR system, and meet your future patients. We will pair you with your dedicated supervisor who will mentor you throughout your CF year and teach you how to conduct bilingual evaluations and apply concepts in bilingualism for appropriate diagnoses and treatment plans. You will also develop lasting relationships with your colleagues who will support you along the way. If you have your CCCs: We know that any new job has its challenges in the beginning. To ensure a smooth transition into your new position, we will provide you with an orientation so that you know who your team members are, learn the rhythms of the day-to-day, meet your patients, receive training on our EMR system/documentation, and get familiar with all the therapy and evaluation materials that Therapitas provides. You will also receive training in assessment and treatment of bilingual speakers. We also have a Director of Speech Therapy who is here to support you as a clinician.
