This position requires a self-starter who will be responsible for supporting new geography expansions and partner launch efforts, in addition to supporting various aspects of our monthly accounting and reporting process. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding and experience operating in a complex, high-growth stage, multi-disciplinary organization. The candidate will work closely with members of cross-functional teams to design, develop and deliver operationalization of complex accounting projects. Key job responsibilities • Responsible for the monthly accounting close including preparing journal entries, analyzing and explaining fluctuations and variances, and providing meaningful financial reporting to management. • Collaborate with cross-functional business partners including Finance, Operations, Tax, and Technology teams to maintain flow of communication and support. • Analyze current procedures. Recommend, develop, and drive process improvements to achieve efficiency and scalability. • Lead automation projects and reduce manual efforts. • Execute judgments to keep projects moving and ensure the right decisions are reached to close the books each month. • Collaborate with technical teams to resolve issues related to unprocessed system transactions. • Support external audit process and escalates any inefficiency to management • Assess internal controls, identify gaps in the control process, and design additional controls to solve deficiencies. • Build trust with senior management through effective communication. About the team The Prime Accounting team supports Amazon’s Prime subscription businesses, and is responsible for the revenue generated through direct to consumer and B2B sales channels. This position requires a self-starter who will be responsible for supporting new geography expansions and driving automation initiatives, in addition to supporting various aspects of our monthly accounting and reporting process. Prime is one of World's largest Subscription business with over 200MM members. Prime operates in more than 26 countries. Our goal is to eliminate all manual Accounting processes and achieve 100% automation. We are a part of the business team (we have a seat at the table), not a detached corporate function. Prime is supported by a dedicated Technology team. Working with the Finance Business Integration (FBI) team, you will be supporting expansion of Prime in new geographies and launching projects that enhances customer experiences in existing market places. You will lead projects that will reduce manual efforts and enhance Controllership. The role will give you opportunity to analyze membership trends and understand their impact on Prime revenue, both amortized and deferred. You will also work closely with Finance and Tax teams and help analyze revenue variances against forecast and understand potential tax issues/concerns relating to Prime Subscriptions and ensure compliance. Basic Qualifications 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field Preferred Qualifications CPA Knowledge of internal control framework (specifically COSO) to assess control design and operational efficiency Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
