Skagit 911 is seeking an Executive Director for this emergency dispatch center in Mount Vernon, one hour north of Seattle in Washington's beautiful Skagit Valley. Skagit 911 provides services to Skagit County, a Pacific Northwest community of 132,000 residents located midway between Seattle and Vancouver, Canada. Skagit County is an extremely desirable place to live and work due to its natural beauty and central location between Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands, Canada, and the Cascade Mountains-all providing a variety of outdoor recreation throughout the year.
SKAGIT 911
Skagit 911 answers, processes, and dispatches all 911 and non-emergency calls within Skagit County and North Cascades National Park and Ross Lake National Recreation Area located in Whatcom County. Skagit 911 serves nine law enforcement agencies, four municipal fire agencies, seventeen fire districts, and one EMS agency. Skagit 911 operates with a 2024 budget of $10.5 million and a team of 53 budgeted FTEs (43 filled). In 2023, the Center received 106,974 emergency calls.
THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is a FLSA-exempt position with full responsibility and accountability for ensuring that the Center's activities are performed within the scope of all federal and state laws covering public safety emergency dispatch services. This position oversees and directs all operations and staff of Skagit 911 Communications Center to ensure the provision of emergency services to the public. The Director is responsible for the fiscal management of Skagit 911. This position works with considerable independence under the general direction of the Board of Directors through its Chairperson, collaborates with the Board, and directly supervises management-level professional and technical personnel.
