SUMMARY: The Loading Dock Logistics Manager is responsible for maximizing efficiencies of operational activity occurring in relation to events being held at the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center ("Hynes") and the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center ("BCEC"). The position will serve as a liaison between the appropriate internal teams and the external partners involved in the successful completion of the event. This position will primarily work from the BCEC but may also be asked to work at the Hynes. Primary responsibilities and work location involve the loading dock area.

Communication
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Supervision is provided by the General Manager and/or the Assistant General Manager, including assignment of duties, inspection of work, training, coaching, and performance evaluations.

WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule for this position typically fluctuates based upon the needs of a particular event or project, which would require the ability to work a flexible schedule including late nights, early mornings, long days, weekends, and holidays. Travel to other MCCA facilities may be required.

Communication
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with client contractors, focusing primarily on general services contractors, to ensure smooth event operations and effective communication throughout the event lifecycle.
- Collaborate with public safety, transportation, and event operations teams in advance and on-site to coordinate logistics, ensure adherence to safety protocols, and address any issues that may arise during the event.
- Proactively address any issues or concerns that arise during event setup, execution, or teardown, ensuring that all parties involved adhere to event protocols and hold contractors and personnel accountable for their responsibilities.
- Reinforce and remind event contractors and labor teams of established policies related to breaks, equipment storage, and the use of trucks and trailers, coordinating with other teams or managers as necessary to ensure consistent application of these policies.
- Participate in meetings with event contractors to oversee and facilitate the successful load-in and load-out processes, ensuring adherence to event schedules, protocols, and any specific requirements discussed in these meetings.
- Inform contractors of any issues or abnormalities that could impact their move-in or move-out processes, such as road closures, nearby activities, equipment malfunctions, or policy changes, providing timely updates to minimize disruptions.
- Foster and manage positive relationships with general service contractors to enhance collaboration and effectiveness during events, continuously engaging with them to address concerns and provide support.
- Manage all aspects of move-in and move-out logistics to ensure the smooth setup and teardown of events, including scheduling, contractor coordination, and resolution of any issues.
- Monitor and enforce adherence to MCCA policies and safety guidelines during all event activities, ensuring that all practices and procedures comply with established standards.
- Maintain a flexible schedule, including availability to work some weekends and evenings, as determined by the demands and timing of event activity needs.
- Facilitate coordination among all labor teams, both inside and outside the building, to ensure seamless and efficient operation of event activities while working in harmony with the respective stakeholders.
- Perform most duties onsite at the BCEC due to the high volume of events, focusing on overseeing event activities and coordinating with contractors on-site.
- Promptly report any damage to MCCA equipment to ensure timely repairs and minimize disruption to event operations for repair.
- Collaborate with contractors and vendors, including but not limited to general service contractor, rigging, audio visual teams, etc. to ensure adherence to policies and seamless event activity.
- Participate in operational meetings as necessary to discuss event logistics, specifically to ensure seamless integration between internal teams and external partners.
- Consult/collaborate with the Superintendent of Building Services to evaluate contractor and vendor services, ensuring that all client requirements are met and contributing to the overall success of the event.
- Engage with various organizational levels and departments to facilitate event execution, effectively managing service implementation with designated personnel to ensure operational efficiency.
- Monitor the activities and operations of the event contractors at both venues to ensure compliance with MCCA policies and requirements, particularly those pertaining to the physical operations related to event setup and load-out.
- The role necessitates a primary presence near the loading docks to maintain visibility and facilitate direct communication with contractors, ensuring effective oversight and coordination.
- Effectively monitor and document incidents or policy violations, providing detailed reports to ensure timely resolution and adherence to established protocols.
- Identify operational issues and proactively communicate opportunities for improvement, aiming to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide regular feedback to leadership regarding reoccurring challenges, offering insights and recommendations to address persistent issues.
- Engage in discussions and offer recommendations on setup, operational procedures, policy adjustments, and staffing levels at MCCA convention center facilities to optimize performance.
- This individual will maintain paperwork with contractor requests to use marshalling yards and loading docks.
