Brethren Village Retirement Community, in Lititz, PA, is seeking a full-time Social Worker. This is a great opportunity for a qualified individual with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and clinical experience, who will enjoy interacting with and supporting an older adult population.
The Social Worker provides education, referral, and social services to Brethren Village Residents and their family members, to assist them to safely live independently. The Social Worker meets with Independent Living Residents to conduct assessments; notes observable changes in health status that may impact ability to live independently; coordinates appropriate services to assist Independent Living Residents to safely age-in-place; assists Residents and their family members through hospitalizations and when higher levels of care are needed.
The Social Worker also helps orient new Residents to Brethren Village, makes presentations regarding social services for Residents, and provides resources and assistance to Independent Living Residents in a wide variety of situations.
The Social Worker completes all work with the highest degree of integrity and in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Work Schedule
- Full-time, year-round, benefits-eligible:40 hours per week; Monday through Friday, primarily daytime hours, on the Brethren Village campus
- Additional hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required on occasion to address urgent or high-priority situations
Core Requirements:
- a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- the ability to complete online training independently
- dependability: ability and willingness to meet attendance standards
- attention to safety: ability and willingness to consistently work in a safe and alert manner, and to report to work fit for duty; commitment to wearing protective equipment as required for the position and adhering to all health and safety standards
- commitment to treating each Resident, Team Member, and member of the Brethren Village community with respect
- a Bachelor's degree in Social Work
- at least 2 years of professional experience as a Social Worker
- recent course work in geriatrics or professional experience working with an older adult population
- experience in an acute care setting or skilled nursing facility preferred
- demonstrated understanding of the aging process and health and safety issues associated with aging-in-place
- knowledge and experience using assessments with clients
- knowledge of community resources available to an older adult population
- a strong customer service orientation; the ability and willingness to provide exceptional service to others
- competence and experience working through difficult situations calmly and effectively; proven problem-resolution skills
- ability to keep work organized and to complete assignments in a timely manner; the ability to meet deadlines
- ability to communicate effectively - verbally and in writing - on an individual and group basis; effective presentation skills; comfort leading meetings
- strong computer skills: experience and comfort using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, computerized databases, and online resources
- knowledge of HIPAA regulations; the ability and willingness to keep Residents' personal, financial, and medical information confidential
- the ability to form positive and professional relationships with Residents, their family members, and fellow Team Members, and to provide exceptional service to others
- a valid PA driver's license, a driving record free of serious or excessive violation, proof of personal auto insurance (for local business travel)
- willingness and ability to report to campus after-hours, during urgent or emergency situations
