Copper River Shared Servicesis seeking a Payroll Supervisor who is responsible for the end-to-end multi-state semi-monthly labor and payroll processing for 6 or more companies. This is a highly autonomous position supporting multiple operating companies who function as separate legal entities. This individual will work with Human Resources to coordinate proper flow and maintenance of employee data and financial information related to payroll. The ability to manage multiple companies and meet deadlines is critical.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Audit & monitor submission of timesheets to ensure completion and review accuracy of approved timesheets
  • Timely and accurate processing of semi-monthly timesheets for multiple companies
  • Research, resolution and oversight of all correcting timecards for multiple companies
  • Processing of weekly and semi-monthly payrolls for multiple companies
  • Process all special payroll deductions such as garnishments and benefit adjustments in an accurate and timely manner
  • Process administration of new hires and terminations in Deltek, to include communication with new hires regarding the timekeeping and expense system
  • Create, review, and analyze pre-transmission and post-transmission payroll reports to ensure accuracy
  • Meet semi-monthly deadlines for processing payroll transactions
  • Maintain employee records in Deltek for changes, such as supervisor reporting structures and salary changes, in an accurate and timely manner
  • Work closely with Human Resources regarding inquiries, issues, and procedures effecting payroll and HR
  • Work with HR and payroll company to understand, monitor, and review the proper taxation of employer paid benefits
  • Monitor and work with the payroll company to ensure proper and timely filing and payment of all federal, state, and local payroll taxes; research and resolve any discrepancies
  • Process accurate and timely year-end reporting
  • Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting, as needed
  • Monthly reconciliation of payroll-related general ledger accounts for multiple companies

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience plus 10 years of payroll experience
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience using Deltek Costpoint for timekeeping and labor.
    • Payroll processing in a multi-company environment.
    • Payroll processing in an outsourced environment utilizing a vendor such as ADP, Paycor or UKG.
    • Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Analytical skills, including research, ability to interpret data, ability to analyze information.
    • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
    • Advance knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint).
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
    • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines.
    • Ability to communicate with various levels of management.
    • Proven knowledge of standard payroll concepts, practices, and procedures.
    • Strong knowledge in multi-state payroll.
    • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations.
  • Preferred Knowledge/Experience:
    • Prior experience with UKG HRIS/Payroll software.
