Material Handler

**Job Title: Material Handler****Job Description**Candidates will start by training for a month doing general clean-up, learning color codes for steel, placement in the warehouse, and training on the crane based on previous crane experience. The role requires walking for 8-10 hour shifts (approximately 8 miles a day) in an inside/outside environment, with exposure to the elements. Responsibilities include running indoor and outdoor cranes, performing housekeeping tasks, pulling beams, loading flatbed trailers and railcars, receiving inventory, moving materials via overhead crane, filling out shipping reports, and documenting all outgoing loads. Training may extend to operating saws, brake machines, forklifts, steel bending machines, or beam saw/cutters.**Responsibilities**+ Perform general clean-up and housekeeping tasks.+ Learn and apply color codes for steel inventory.+ Operate indoor and outdoor cranes.+ Pull beams and load flatbed trailers and railcars.+ Receive inventory and move materials using an overhead crane.+ Fill out shipping reports and bills of lading.+ Adhere to safety rules and guidelines.+ Train to potentially operate saws, brake machines, forklifts, and other heavy equipment.**Essential Skills**+ Experience in heavy industry or construction (1-2 years).+ Ability to read a tape measure.+ Ability to lift up to 50lbs (most lifting done by crane).+ Effective and safe equipment operation.+ Experience with overhead cranes in heavy industry or military.+ Capability to learn and retain color-coded inventory systems.**Additional Skills & Qualifications**+ Forklift operation experience is a plus.+ Experience in machine operating, rigging, and sheet metal work.+ Industrial, manufacturing, and distribution center experience.**Why Work Here?**We offer a competitive starting wage with an additional shares program that provides consistent incentives. Conditions can be very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter due to the surrounding steel. The role has a construction-like feel, requiring hard hats, steel-toed boots, and safety vests.
