This position is located in the Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology (CBIIT), National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Responsibilities Serve as senior Computer Scientist and Science IT Program Manager, with responsibility for providing leadership, management, oversight, and direction for scientific IT initiatives throughout NIH. Serve as an expert in providing authoritative advice in the development and design of scientifically focused IT initiatives in support of the NIH mission. Evaluate scientific IT initiatives by appraising program or project operations and accomplishments for effectiveness as a basis for future planning activities. Serve as a recognized authority in the field of computer science and information technology and provides leadership and consultation on information management for Clinical Trials. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You qualify at the GS-15 level, if you meet of the following qualification requirements: Basic Requirements: You must have a Bachelor's degree in computer science; OR A Bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. AND You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: managing scientific IT initiatives and projects to support biomedical research programs; identifying customer requirements for scientific IT initiatives; providing technical direction in IT, computer science or biotechnology to achieve organizational objectives; overseeing the development of scientific IT technologies; and leading and directing other IT staff. You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.
