LEI is searching for an applicant to join our team as a Utility Pipelayer and Topman. LEI is a family-owned and owner operated business serving the front range since 1968. If hired, applicants will be integral to LEI's team, laying pipe for storm, sewer, drains and water mains. The applicant will perform a combination of tasks such as grading trenches or culverts, positioning pipe, sealing joints, and installing or using instruments such as lasers, grade rods and/or transit levels. Applicants must possess the following: Valid driver's license with good driving record. Reliable transportation to work site each day (having vehicle is essential). High school diploma or GED preferred. Ability to understand and communicate in English. Ability to read labels, safety warnings and guidelines. Attention to detail and alert at all times. Able to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers. Lift and carry weights in excess of 90 pounds. Push and pull up to 90 pounds. Stand or walk up to 8 hours each day. Must be able to dig/excavate with hand shovel for up to 6 hours each day. Experience operating a loader and skid steer a plus. Applicants essential duties will include the following: Follow blueprints to configure pipe routs and algin pipeline sections. Dig trenches with trenching tools. Cut pipes to required lengths and slide pipe into trenches. Direct tractor drivers where to place pipe for connections. Check slopes for conformance to requirements using levels and/or lasers. Inspect pipe joints and couplings to ensure pipes are spaced properly and according to specification. Lay pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains and water mains. Grade trenches or culverts. Seal joints. Such other tasks as directed.
