Title Carpenter Department Maintenance Reports To Director of Maintenance Compensation ACP 206 Days 260 Revised: 11/12/2021 PRIMARY PURPOSE: Performs general carpentry tasks and repairs or constructs any projects that require carpentry skills. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Certification Requirements High school graduate or GED equivalent Valid Texas Driver's License, insurable with Judson ISD insurance carrier, and a good driving record Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check Special Knowledge and Skills Knowledge and operation of carpentry hand and power tools, their safety, capabilities and limitations Demonstrate framing and drywall experience and possesses extended knowledge of carpentry skills Ability to create and construct in accordance to job specifications and blueprints as applicable Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to read blueprints and diagrams Ability to measure and perform mathematical computations Ability to prepare a bill of material and estimate repair reports Ability to work independently Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of experience as a carpenter MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES : (The following statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned and should not be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions that may be assigned or skills that may be required.) Install, maintain and repair hardware and equipment including but not limited to: a) panic devices, b) door closures, c) lockers, d) folding doors, e) millwork, f) overhead doors, g) toilet partitions, h) ceiling systems, i) metal and wood doors, j) decks and skirting. Layout and perform carpentry projects including demolition, flooring, walls and ceilings. Follow established guidelines for procuring, ordering and purchasing materials. Construct and make repairs of district property as required and directed. Prepares a bill of material for construction or repair assignments. Handle maintenance of inventory, tools and vehicles assigned. Ensure compliance with safe and good housekeeping guidelines within the carpentry shop. Work with other maintenance personnel in a collaborative manner to ensure best practices, effective communication and expected outcomes of achievement. Perform other duties as assigned, based on department needs Extended work hours and/or work weeks may be required throughout the year.
