Position Type: Business/Accountant Date Posted: 11/13/2024 Location: District Service Center Job Title: Accountant Reports To: Business Administrator Salary: Starting Salary $57,600 Effective Date: Immediately SUMMARY : The Public School District Accountant is responsible for maintaining the financial records of the school district in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), state and federal regulations, and district policies. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting of financial information. The position involves analyzing, and reporting financial information and providing accounting support within the Business Office. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Other duties may be assigned. Maintains Chart of Accounts in Financial System Maintains Security Access of Users in Financial System Prepares monthly bank reconciliations Prepares and files Plancon Reimbursements with PDE Prepares and enters Journal Entries Compiles, analyzes and creates monthly reports for Department & District Budgets Compiles, analyzes and creates monthly reports for Capital Projects Compiles, analyzes and creates monthly reports for Grants Department to ensure proper accounting in Financial System Compiles, analyzes and creates reports in order to manage and prepare for Annual Local Audit Assists in compiling, analyzing and reporting data in order to prepare Annual Financial Report Assists in compiling, analyzing and reporting data in preparation of Annual District Budget process Assists in preparation of external reports to federal, state and regional governmental entities Assists in preparation of ad hoc reports as needed Performs any other duties as assigned by the Business Administrator to ensure the efficient operation of the Business Office. Two years' experience in the areas of accounting and reporting, preferred but not required. Public School Business Office or Knowledge of PA school Finance and Accounting Procedures a plus. Unofficial transcripts required for consideration. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS : CPA and/or Status as a Pennsylvania Registered School Business Administrator through PASBO. (Preferred but not required) LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY : Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES : Proficiency with computer applications required, specifically excel. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written communications. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.
